I Remember you (Steve Harrington x Reader)

And we meet again

Trouble always seemed to find you no matter how hard you tried to avoid it.

You went to Hawkings high and you were invisible, you didn't talk to anybody if you could avoid it not even during your extra curriculars.

You just wanted to get good grades and get into a good college and get far away from this town.

It's funny how people usually would pick on people a slightly bigger size than them so you always assumed people would have tormented you but no one said a thing about your weight even though you were bigger.

You counted that as your blessing and you kept your focus on doing your homework so you didn't fall behind in class.

Only a few people would talk to you occasionally which got lonely sometimes sure but that were just how life was for you and you were mostly okay with that.

Towards the end of the school year you decided you could use the extra money and you had started babysitting the kids around town which was nothing out of the ordinary.

At least not until you started babysitting Dustin Henderson and occasionally you would babysit his group of friends. At first everything was normal and it wasn't until Dustin went looking for his pet that things started to get out of control.

Before you knew what was happening you were pulled into a whole new world with demodogs and the upside down and it was all very confusing.

And somehow all of this led to you hanging out with Steve 'the hair' Harrington of all people.

You knew Steve. Everyone knew Steve. He was Mr. Popular after all and you knew for sure that Steve didn't know who you were.

Yet that didn't stop you from punching Billy Hargrove in the face when he had beat Steve up.

Billy had beaten the shit out of Steve and you had stepped in and punched him as hard as you could right on his nose before Max had stepped in and put the syringe in Billy's neck.

During the car ride to the tunnels you held an icepack to Steve's head and he had looked up at you with this unreadable expression on his face, he looked almost fondly at you

'I remember you' he mumbled before passing out again

You hadn't known what to make out of this confession. It was all really confusing since he had never spoken to you or acknowledged your presence at school since he was probably too cool for that.

It wasn't a romantic confession either because you knew that Steve was into Nancy Wheeler.

Three months after everything what went down in the tunnels you started hanging out in the mall because you didn't have anything better to do

You would occasionally pop into Scops Ahoy to say hi to Robin who was one of the few people you had actually talked to while she went to Hawkins as you were also in the high school band.

One day however you saw Steve.

You hadn't seen him in months. Ever since that awkward 'I remember you' comment

You didn't quite know if you were ready to face him yet to be completely honest you hadn't talked to anyone else either- not Dustin or his friends or Nancy or Jonathan because they weren't actually your friends.

Part of you weren't ready to face them yet given what had happened in the tunnels that night or in general because of what you now knew about the upside down.

You didn't know what to even say to Steve or anyone else. Everything felt like the wrong thing to say. So you decided that just avoiding him  and everyone else all together was the best option
