The rest of the night, (Y/n) and Oryn didn't get much sleep. They ended up falling asleep in the library's chairs and were found there in the morning by a chuckling Mrs. Addington.

The next four days were quiet. Oryn and (Y/n) got barely any time to talk due to the up and coming ball. (Y/n) was out all day every day getting her dress fitted, finding shoes, hair accessories. Most of this time was spent with Cora, in which they got quite close.

Cora told (Y/n) about her scandalous love with the king's butler. Cora continuously asked about the mess in the kitchen, prying into whether or not (Y/n) and Oryn were a thing. She profusely denied it.

As of now, it was the day of the ball. All of the maids were busy, except Cora, who was aiding (Y/n) with makeup, getting dressed, and hair. (Y/n) was restless, and found that she hated sitting around and getting dressed up. Sure, the final product would be amazing, but she couldn't stand the boringness of sitting all day.

While Cora tightening (Y/n)'s corset (which was extremely uncomfortable by the way), she went on and on about her lover. (Y/n) tried to sigh, but couldn't take a full breath.

"(Y/n), I know I've asked you a ton of time already, but what are your feelings for Oryn?" Cora asked as she loosened the corset a little bit.

"I've already told you, I'm not interested. He would never see me in that way anyway since his head is so far up his ass," (Y/n) replied breathily. Cora giggled at (Y/n)'s answer and slapped her arm.

"Loosen up a little. A little crush here and there makes your life more fun, I promise!" Cora chirped. (Y/n) shook her head, but smiled a little.

"I can't focus on guys at a time like this. I just really need to get out of this castle." Cora frowned at (Y/n) sadly.

"Well, do you want some advice?" She asked.

"Sure."

"Try to make the most of it while you're here. You'll find it's harder to get out of a situation while under stress. Plus, you might come out with a few good memories. Don't waste the life you have now on being pessimistic, okay?"

(Y/n) considered Cora's words for a moment silently. She nodded hesitantly. "Thanks for being my friend, Cora," (Y/n) said fondly.

"Easiest thing I've ever done!"

After (Y/n) was done with hair, dress, and makeup, she looked in the mirror.

'dAAAAAYUMMMMMM' She thought with an excited smile. Cora can really do magic.

The ball gown was a blue-off the shoulder, with a floral pattern going down the frills of the dress. The ends of the dress were a white, and the middle was a fade between the blue and the white. The eyeshadow was a dark and light blue with shimmer, the makeup blending together in a sea of pretty colors. (Y/n)'s hair was in an updo, a loose curly updo with a low bun. A crystal vine hair accessory adorned her neat hair-do, completing the look.

She was basically flawless.

Cora led (Y/n) out of the room, briskly walking away, while (Y/n) tried to keep up in her white low(ish)-heels.

"We don't have much time before the welcoming, so we need to be quick," Cora explained breathlessly, as she ran alongside (Y/n). The two reached the ballroom, Cora opening the door for (Y/n), who walked in.

The guests had already arrived, meaning she was late. Very late. This was like a scene out of a book, where head turned and stared.
