If you play an instrument and you absolutely love it, you'll get me. I love piano and I am learning guitar too. Over this isolation, I have been practicing my music a lot more than I would normally and I am actually taking a little more interest in guitar- I don't even mind rock music as much anymore!
Learning an instrument can be a very tedious task which gets people very frustrated at times. (Totally not guilty). I am no prodigy so I have to put in more work than all y'all pianists out there and guitar- well, that relationship can be a bit of a love-hate one. See, I view music as a universal passion and this is because so many people love listening to music and that's a passion too! You can hate playing but love listening to it 24/7. You could love music theory but not love listening to music! You could really like drums and beats but not like any other instrument! Still a passion! See, music is like food. We either hate or love it with a passion! And food, like music is such a broad term which has too many branches to count!
When my cousin came over towards the end of ISO, we talked to one of her friends who said he HATES music. Needless, to say, I wasn't the happiest when I heard about his pointed opinion towards the LOML. Sorry again, Netflix. Now see, this guy should have phrased it better because what he meant to say is that he doesn't like playing music. Not listening, he loves listening to it! My theory has been proven, see? Enter a heated debate on music (which I claim to have won HANDS DOWN) in which i laid out concise and clear arguments which even this kid couldn't match!
My cousin plays a whole lot of guitar and she is amazing. She has got great technique and normally lives on playing by ear(like me!). Both of us aren't in love with sheet music so we prefer the ear training life. We are polar opposites, though. She likes guitar more than piano and I love piano more than guitar. I play 2 instruments and she knows how to play the violin, a bit of mandolin, guitar(acoustic, electric and bass), piano, melodica and she even knows how to use a synth! She's even been doing a lot of recording so be sure to check her profile on YT- GuitarNiranjana!
The reason it's so great to learn music is that it wakes you up and when you finally get this one part that you have been working on for AGES, you feel so great! And I am talking a jump off the roof and kiss your neighbor kind of amazing! Another thing is that, there really are no bounds to music! It really does pay to teach yourself an instrument and there are so many sites and things you can sign up for to teach yourself one. Who knows, you might turn out to have a great talent. Another thing is, your favourite song is probably one you relate to on an emotional level and gives you a certain feeling because of foresaid emotional levels!
Spend time on music because it is honestly so great for your mental health and engaging you during ISO!
