CHAPTER 1

Meetings like these didn't have my attention. I knew coming here wouldn't do any good.

"So what do you think Mr.Rogers?"
A man asked me. He had told me his name in the beginning, but I hadn't felt the need to remember it.

"I told you before and I'm telling it again. Your company is going in a loss.
Even if I buy forty-nine per cent of your shares, it won't be enough. You have dug a deep grave for yourself. Don't expect my help for getting you out of it." I said

Can't we try?" He pleaded.

I gave him a bored look, took my coat from my seat and went out into the chilling night of New York.

"Stop! Please stop!" I shrieked, clutching my stomach as Luke tickled me.

"Nuh-uh. First, tell me where you've hidden your chocolates?"

"Please. Don't do this." I requested him.

"That's what you get for hiding chocolates and not sharing it with your friends"

"Fine!" I grumbled, "It's below my bed."

Luke's hands stopped
"Really! That's one of the most obvious places" he exclaimed.

"Well, not for fools like you," Jason said as he switched off the television.

"Shut up peter pan," Luke said and went off to take what I assume is 'my secret stash of chocolates'.

"Couldn't you have stopped him?" I said, glaring at Jason.

"He never listens to me" he shrugged

"Ho-Ho children, I come bearing gifts"
Luke said sitting besides Jason on the couch.

"Don't you dare go all Santa on me. These are my chocolates you dumb."

He just smiled smugly

Jason passed me a Nerd's packet.
"Thanks, Dexter" I grinned.

Jason and Luke have been my besties right from middle school and now they are my roommates.
Since our apartment has three bedrooms, it only seemed appropriate we share the rent.
That's it! That's the only benefit of having your besties as your roommates.

"Hey, Liz!" Jason snapped me out of my little bubble.

"Yes?"

"We were thinking of going to the beach tomorrow. You coming?"

I rolled my eyes
"Obviously!"

"See. I told you peter pan. She won't say no to us." Luke said with his mouth full.

"Yuck! Close your mouth." I said, "You're spraying chocolate crumbs everywhere."

"Such a girl" he muttered under his breath.

"I am a girl, Luke"

"Blah blah"

I hit him on his shoulders

He winced
"So violent"

I looked at Jason.
He was busy finishing his M&M's.

I rolled my eyes at their childishness.

Checking the time on my phone, I cursed.

"What happened?" Jason asked clearly concerned.

"It's 20 past 11. I was supposed to call Josh at 11." I replied

Jason scowled at my boyfriend's name.

Well, I couldn't blame Jason for not liking Josh.
Josh acted a little bit rude to both of my friends.
Asking him about his dislike towards my friends, he had muttered something about 'how the world is not a nice place' and 'male friends are a threat to girls'.
And his cherry on top was that we three live together.

I had assured him that they are not just any 'male friends' but my best friends.
As he still didn't understand, I let him be.

The next day, I drove towards Josh's house to ask him if he wanted to come with us.
I know I could've called him but I also wanted to apologize for not calling him yesterday.
And that thing you can't just do it on a phone call.

Parking my car on his driveway, I got out of it.
I tried opening his front door but finding it locked, removed the keys from under the potted plant kept near his door.

I know! My boyfriend's an idiot.

Opening the door, I went inside.
"Hey, Josh!" I started to say but was cut off by the sight in front of me.

Josh was straddling some girl and was sucking her face like there was no tomorrow.

Hearing the door open, he stood up.

I leaned on the door, crossing my hands.
It really hurt seeing him cheat on me but I tried to show him a blank face.

" Continue!" I exclaimed. "Oh dear! Please don't mind my presence. I just wanted to see how much pleasure a man can get by cheating on his girlfriend."

"It's not what it looks like!" He said.

I raised my eyebrows at him.

"I can explain Liz." He tried again.

"Well! Now you have used every line in the 'Cheater's lines to use on getting caught' book." I said.

"No. Please sit down so we can talk about it."

"Oh! Sorry, one line was left."

"Please Liz. Don't do this."

"Shut up asshole!" I snapped, my patience thinning.

He lowered his head.

"I came here to ask if you wanted to go to the beach but it looks like you have other plans."

"I'm sorry" he said.

Ignoring him, I turned towards the girl who was still sitting there dumbfounded.
"Bye whore! Have fun with this fucking idiot."

With that, I got out of the bastard's house.
