the winter snow glistened in the cold air. i pressed my rosy cheek against the window, feeling the cold surround my face. goosebumps traveled throughout both of my arms and my back from the chilly feeling. i was thinking about how high school would be like. i was homeschooled for my entire life, so i wasn't used to wearing a school uniform, or being on a loud bus, or sitting next to my friend, loki.
loki was my one, and my only companion that i had met when i lived in michigan. i moved in with his family after i got emancipated from my adoptive parents. they treated me like a slave rather than a daughter. i was forced to take care of their kids as if i was a caretaker, instead of their child. and when i didn't behave... let's just say it hurt. emotionally... and physically.
i'm so thankful i've met loki though. he's kind, compassionate, and he has really big glasses. his black hair and brown eyes warms his face, and his kind smile gives me this feeling. these butterflies in a way...
"cynthia?"
i left my pool of imagination and quickly turned my head to see loki. the vibrations from the bus engine stopped. i finally realized that the big building in front of the bus was my new high school.
"we're here", loki said.
this feeling started to gut into my stomach. like a big, heavy weight suddenly fell and sunk into my abdomen.
"oh, right. let's leave", i finally replied with a bit of confusion.
i stood up from the grey leather bus seats and lowered my uniform skirt down, in case it rose while we were sitting. i paced down the bus stairs and stood in front of the building that would soon be my new high school. it looked like a white mansion. clean, pretty, and the roses in front of the entrance smelled pleasant.
"oh my goodness, loki. this is a spectacular school!", i gasped.
"we'll see from the inside" he replied, suspiciously, "it seems... too good to be true."
"whatever you say."
i walked into the school, and automatically noticed the long, clean hallways. thousands of students were talking at their lockers and heading to their classes. i went to my locker, set my stuff away, and loki and i walked together for our first class. biology.
as soon as i walked in, i was greeted by the teacher, mr. banks.
"hello ma'am and sir, your names?" he asked in a soothing tone.
"my name is cynthia, cynthia rose fowler."
"and i'm loki chester."
"nice to meet you two" he smiled sweetly.
i nudged loki to come and sit down with me at the desk. loki understood and we walked to our seats.
another girl walked into the room. she was beautiful. she had clear dark skin that glistened in the room lights. her dark hair was in a bun and she had clips that held her thick hair in place. and she had an amazing body. but, she had a mean looking face. almost emotionless completely. she gazed at me and stopped in her tracks. she dropped her iphone and it looked like she realized something important.
i looked at her back, with a shocked look on my face. she quickly picked up her phone and rushed to her friends, with a malicious, sour grin on her glowing face.
