ding! ding!

The sounds of spoons clicking against champagne glasses. I rolled my eyes as this was the 3rd time I heard that sound in a span of an hour. Unlike everyone else, I just sat down rolling my eyes as the crowd cheered on Eli, my brother who found his happily ever after. his soulmate. Lily Cortez who was now my sister-in-law.

Don't get me wrong I love my brother and his wife, she's like a sister to me. However, my brother getting married doesn't really look good in my part. It meant that well, I needed someone now,  I needed to find my soulmate before I explode from the pesky side comments I receive from my annoying relatives.

"Emma, stop moping around and help me here" I looked up to find my mother's face looking down on me. As I stood up, I saw Eli and Lily looking at each other like nothing else in the world mattered. My heart melted. I wanted that, I wanted how they looked at each other like everything was perfect

A sigh came out as I went over to help my mother. She stared at me with pity.

"Honey what's wrong?, you should be happy, we're at a wedding right now, your brother's wedding!" my mother asked, as a question that was meant to comfort me turned into a lecture about the frown I carried on my face

"Nothing." I replied

"Honey, I am your mother, I know somethings up"

"It's just... I mean look at them" I said pointing towards the newlyweds "They look so happy and ugh I am so jealous on how easily Eli found his soulmate. Literally."  Lily lived right across the street making her our neighbor, she grew up by our side from the very first day, she was my childhood best friend and now my sister-in-law too.

My mother turned to me and said "It does look easy, especially since its their wedding day, its suppose to be a day filled with joy, however, I assure you that love is not easy, it will test you to the point you just want to give up, but that's not the point"

"What is the point of love then?" I asked

"Well, for starters, love assures that someone will be by your side through thick and thin even when times are extremely difficult, however make sure you choose the right person to stand by with" my mother said looking at a certain direction. I followed her gaze and saw my father laughing and chatting with Lily's father.

"You and dad make it so easy, Hell! everyone around me makes it so easy" She turned back and sent me a grin "Okay enough heart to heart talk for now, let's get back to work" I picked up the wedding gifts to load onto the car.

As I went back to the reception, I was greeted with the stars of the night. "Hey, there's my favorite sister!"

"I'm your only sibling. Idiot" I said while rolling my eyes at my brother.

"Woah sis what's with the attitude?"

"Yeah Emma, whats wrong?" the bride asked she came towards us wrapping her arms around him "Nothing. please take away this idiot he's bothering me"

"Okay okay, but we need to talk later, tell me that's going on"

Eli turned to her with a confused face "Later? nu uh, you ain't going to her later" He then loudly whispered in her ear "your going with me later"

"Okay enough, I'm gonna go try those brownies" as I said with disgust and turning around to try those brownies I've been eying since forever

As I reached out for my second brownie, I saw a hand take one too. "Hey E, what's wrong?" It was Lily, she asked as she ate a brownie too, bold move to do that in a white dress.

"I envy you" I said before taking a bite of heaven

"Envy? by all means you can have him back, a day is good enough" She laughed as my brother was now doing something stupid. "No I'm good its been 17 years, its your turn now" I said laughing along with her

"I envy how you already found your soulmate, and he was literally a street away. The way you look at each other just wow, I want that" I continued "Yeah, I know I am very lucky to find my soulmate that easy, but I never thought it would be him you know?" she revealed

"What do you mean? from when we were children I already saw the way he looked at you, I constantly teased him about it and every time he would turn into a tomato" I said as I remembered back when we were fourteen

"Really? aw, but what I mean is, I had doubts going into a relationship with your childhood best friend, it was scary." she said "When he confessed I knew I felt the same way however I was a coward, I didn't want our friendship to go down the drain just because we took that risk"

"What made you take that risk then?" I asked while sinking in all this information I never knew about their relationship

She watched Eli just like like the way my mother did to my father "He saw right through me, he knew I felt the same way and spent months convincing me that nothing bad would happen cause apparently I was his soulmate. At that time I obviously didn't believe it, I mean we were 16! But I took the risk anyway and now looking back I don't know what I would've done if I never took it and remained a coward."

"Well, for what's it worth I'm happy that you found your happily ever after"

"Don't worry E, I'm sure he is right around the corner or maybe he is right here right now and you are just too blind to see" She told me with a smile was plastered on her face "I have to get back now, but be sure to keep on the look out!" She walked away towards my brother

He is right around the corner or maybe he is right here right now and you are just too blind to see

I looked around a saw a familiar face. I feel like I knew him already but I can't remember. Reaching for another brownie, I looked around to find his face again.

"Are those brownies any good?"

I whipped my head back with a brownie in my mouth to find the same guy I was looking for in front of me...
