2 | brownies

"Are those brownies any good?"

I froze. Did he catch me staring at him? Was he watching me while I was looking around for him? Uh oh. I came back to my senses as I realized that there was a whole brownie in my mouth 

"Well I'm guessing they are since you're speechless" he said as he reached out and ate one for himself. "Mhm, they are but I think they aren't good for you since you literally froze" he stated while laughing

"Uh" I was so embarrassed "Uh I'm so sorry, and yes they are delicious"

"Yeah I know I ate one, anyways hi I'm William" he reached out his hand for my to shake "Hello, I'm Emma and sorry for the awkward first encounter" He laughed "Its all good"

"So why were you staring at me from across the room?"

I started at him while embarrassment crept up my face "Uhm, well you look oddly familiar...thats why" he started at me with confusion painted on his face "Really? I don't think so with a face like yours I'm sure I'd remember"

"So how do you know them?" he said with a drink now in his hand pointing towards Eli and Lily "Eli is my brother, you?"

"Oh, Lily's my cousin"

"Ohh, Lily never mentioned anything about her family"

He put his hand over his heart mimicking pain "Ouch! that was offensive, but I get it we aren't that close, just civil"

"Why aren't you close to her?"

"Well, not just her, the entire family actually" he said with remorse in his voice. So this guy had a back story. Huh. Interesting.

"And why's that?"

"Woah I'm not gonna reveal my entire story to a stranger overnight!" he then leaned closer into me with a soft voice and a smirk said "How bout we get to know each other and maybe I'll tell you"

Get to know each other? wait does he mean? ew. no way.

"If you mean I have to sleep with you then no" I responded to his perverted remark

"Who said anything about that? Gosh Emma didn't know you wanted that. I guess I could too if you wanted" he stated with a smirk still on his face. I stared at him my face mixed with disgust and embarrassment. 

"I meant how bout we get to know each other like go on a date, you know" he winked at me. I felt something, it was like something popping out of my chest. Oh no. Is my heart beating? Uh um okay okay relax Emma just play it cool. "Sure I guess I owe it to you after this awkward conversation" I replied looking away from his gaze

"Cool then" he handled me his phone while I put my number in it. "William!" a voice called "Yes mother coming" he turned to me and said "Sorry duty calls, see you around, I'll text you" and walked away with a wink

It was getting pretty late a lot of the older guest started leaving while of course people my age stayed to drink. I wasn't much of a drinker so I just sat down on my usual spot waiting for my parents to signal me so we can finally go home. I was really tired and my feet were killing me I've been up and helping around all day. I just wanna rest and get out of these stupid heels.

My phone went off. I found a message from an unknown number. I opened it and it led me to a link of the best brownie place in town. "brownie date?" Of course. It was William who else would take me out on a brownie date

"Sure" -E

"7pm Friday? I'll come pick you up" -W

"Okay, and how will you know where I live?" -E

"Unless you want to tell me, Lily duh" -W

"Oh, did I mention she lives across me?" -E

"Oh well that makes my job easier, see you 😉"-W

So now I got plans on Friday, yay. Why am I happy? I didn't even know him yet. To get a better look at his face I messaged my best friend Sophia all about him and through her FBI skills she easily found his Instagram along with other information

He goes to the same school as me. He plays basketball and baseball. He has 2 sisters and he likes going to the beach. I jokingly rolled my eyes at amusement on how easily this girl found info. I swear FBI hire her

"Soooo met someone there huh?" -S

"Yeah over brownies, he's taking me out on a date Friday" - E

"oooo LOVE IS IN THE AIR" -S

"shut up"-E

"HAHAHA okay but if you don't want him ill take him, he's cute"-S

"whatever but okay HAHAHA"- E

This woman. She was usually the boy crazy one but I'll take my chances once in a while

"Emma! you ready to go?" I heard my dad call "Yeah! one sec" I went over to say goodbye to the newlyweds

"Hey we're leaving bye guys and congrats!" I said to Eli and Lily. Lily then gave me a hug and whispered in my ear "I saw you talking to someone huh" She then face me and said with a smile "Told you he's right around the corner" before she went off with Eli

Yeah he was but is he the right one? I'm not sure yet I guess that's the point of going on a date. I got home and went to bed and scenarios filled my head at what could happen with him. His arms wrapped around me. His handsome face lighting up with a smile.
