KILLER CHASE : The Search

It was the middle of the night since I heard the church bell ring just now. Garfield and Tom were in our room. They usually don't sleep here... They sleep in the backyard to keep guard... Also cause the two of them enjoy the freedom outside.

It made me think for a moment though... Over the past week... Since this first started... I could always hear Tom and Garfield barking outside.... As if they were trying to warn us... Maybe I should keep them inside starting today... They could warn us if an intruder comes...

I was starting to fall asleep with Garfield laying on my tummy and Tom was being a good boy and guarding Kole sleeping right next to him.

That was when I heard the fence creak. The two dogs immediately shot up from their position and started barking in q very aggressive manner. Showing their fangs and staying on guard. I stood up to look at the window and I saw nothing. But my sweat ran cold when I noticed the direction the two dogs were barking towards.

It was in the corner of the room.

My corner of the room.

I gulped as my eyes saw a figure in the darkness.... The same White hoodie I saw today.

My eyes widened as I saw what he was holding on his left hand.

A bloodied knife.

I didn't have time to scream as I turned the lamp on. I opened the small wooden drawer on my brother's side where I took out a fully loaded gun pointing it at his direction. Tom and Garfield were passive aggressive and it was as if they were afraid to go near that figure but the two dogs were determined to protect us.

My hands were shaking and I didn't even know how to hold a gun right. Holy shit I'm screwed.

" Soffie what's wrong?! "

I turned to see my brother who was rubbing his eyes. My brother had woken up as he scanned to look at me his eyes widened in horror and fear.

" Soffie Behind You! "

I turned around to see the hooded man already behind me raising his knife up to stab me.

I did a foolish move... I never should have turned behind from an enemy but my self were going wild and when I heard my brother it startled me and I automatically turned to my brother.

The hooded man was so close to stabbing me and before he could do it Garfield had jumped in and bit his arm making the hooded man groan and let go of the knife.

I grabbed Garfield tearing Garfield away from the hooded figure and jumped off my bed and onto my brother's bed where I held onto Garfield and Tom.

My brother had a gun pointing at the hooded figure and outside we heard Sirens.... Police sirens.

A sigh of relief escaped my lips as police officers crowded on our front yard.

My brother was frozen as he stared at the hooded man. Kole looked like he knew who that person was and Kole was petrified in place.

I took the initiative and grabbed onto Kole's hand pulling the trugger myself and a loud Bang was heard.

And of course as planned the police barged inside our house but before they could reach our bedroom the hooded man had jumped out of the window. Breaking the glass in the process and ran away at full speed and none of the cops had managed to follow him.

" Officer Kendleson! Is everything alright!? " A cop who was in his thirties barged inside and before my brother could answer he fainted.

" Kole! " I shouted shaking him awake but it was no use.

" Ma'am are you hurt? " The officer asked and I shook my head.

No I wasn't hurt... I think.

Soon more police officers came in and one of them inspected the room and found blood on the floor and... The knife the intruder was carrying.

" Sir... This Knife... " One of the police man announced as he showed the knife to the man who asked me if I was ok earlier.

Looks like this man is a superior.

" Ma'am... If you weren't hurt then... Who's blood is that? " The police man asked and I immigration answered.

" I don't know... You saw the guy who ran away earlier right? He left that knife when my dog bit him.... Can... Can you take my brother to the hospital ? " I asked and the policeman nodded.

" Yes ma'am. An ambulance had already been called " And with those words being said men bringing a stretcher came inside and placed my brother on the stretcher.

Of course I came along but I didn't want to leave Garfield and Tom behind.

The intruder might come back andd O something to my babies.

So I argued with the nurse inside the ambulance and finally I got Garfield and Tom in a police car where they will be following close behind the ambulance. I was seated inside the ambulance guarding my brother.

In the hospital I insisted on being the doctor in charge to check my brother however, the nurses and other doctors were against it saying that I needed to be checked myself so I was at a disadvantage seeing how stubborn these people are.

" So what happened Soffie? " Kim my female nurse companion asked checking for any signs if I was injured or not.

Before I could answer her the same police officer from before entered the room.

" Excuse me miss but can we have a word with Miss. Kendleson? " The police officer asked and Kim immediately exited the room.

The police officer sat on the chair staring at me before opening his mouth 

" I'm officer windstone. A cheif police officer ma'am and... I'd like to ask about what happened " Officer windstone stated getting right into business.

" I will tell you.... If you answer my question after I answered yours" I replied and officer windstone chuckled.

" We're holding an investigation for you ma'am and now you're making a trade off? " The police officer chuckled shaking his head.

" Aww.. Come on. All you gotta answer is yes or no. After all I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one getting any benefits" I grinned and the police officer was taken aback.

" Ok then ma'am. " The officer finally agreed and that's when I began to tell him... Everything.
