Cas opened the cash register, a loud 'shing' filling the convenient store. He took out 3 dollars change and gave it to the customer, a small red head woman with a slim face. Thanking Cas with a smile, the woman walked out the door.
"Hey, Cas, you're real quiet today." Cas' coworker Gabriel said, setting down a crate of juice on a nearby counter.
"Just...thinking." Cas' muttered, counting the money in the register to keep away from Gabriel's gaze. Gabe gave a small chuckle and wiped his hands on his pants. Cas glanced at the time: '5:03'. He grabbed his tan trench coat and gingerly put it on. The bell above the door rang as it opened, two guys walked in. One in a leather jacket with a flannel and a t-shirt underneath. The other was tall wearing plaid.
"Woah, check out the cutie who just walked in." Gabe half whispered. Cas watches the one in the leather jacket go to the back near the pies, a small smile across both of their faces.
"He is very attractive." Cas soothes.
"The ken doll? C'mon Cas you have crappy taste in guys." Gabe grabs Cas' face and points it toward the tall one where the other was.
"No, that one you moron." Gabe teased.
"They do know we can hear them right?" the tall one says.
"The one in the trench coat thinks I'm cute." the other smirks. The tall one grabs a cherry pie and hands it to the other,
"This is what you came in here for right?" The other blushes and sneaks a peek at Cas. Cas catches his gaze and turns away, smiling. The two guys walk up to Cas.
"Hi, I'm Dean." the other smiles, his ears raising in the process. Cas blushes,
"H-hi. I'm Cas." Cas manages.
"I'm Gabriel. Gabe for short." Gabe stuck out a hand to the tall one. He took it,
"Sam." Sam nods as he shakes Gabe's hand. Cas hears Gabe draw a breath in and hold it. Dean places the cherry pie on the counter. Cas hesitates, lost in Dean's eyes then scans the pie.
"2.59-please." Cas chirps quietly, butterflies in his stomach.
Dean scavenged in his pocket taking out the exact change and holding it out for Cas. Cas puts his hand below Dean's and Dean flips his hand and places the change in Cas', their hands barely meeting. Cas looks away and Dean watches Cas, smiling at his shyness. Gabe and Sam stop talking as Dean heads out the door, constantly looking back at Cas. Sam waves goodbye to Gabe and attempts to catch up to Dean. The door closes behind them and Cas and Gabe let out a sigh of happiness and watch them get in the car.
"Well, looks like you got some action there huh?" Gabe elbows Cas, raising his eyebrows.
"Right back at you." Cas breathes. Cas looks out the window. Dean opens the car door and runs inside.
"I forgot your tip." He whispers in a deep, husky voice. Cas grabs the folded 5 dollar bill from Dean's hands, their fingers barely brushing each other. Dean gives a crooked smile and goes back to the car. Cas watches sadly as they drive away. Cas unfolds the bill to put it in the cash register when a paper falls out. He picks it up and unfolds it.
Cas
Call me :)
619-785-6452-Dean
Cas blushes and tucks away the paper in his trench coat.
"I'm gonna head out, Gabe." Cas starts toward the door.
"Yeah, I'll bet you are." Gabe chuckled. Cas rolled his eyes and went to go start his car, a tan 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V. Cas starts the car and moves the stick into drive. Arriving at his dorm, Cas takes off his coat and sets it on the table. He goes to sit on the futon, as soon as he sits he jumps up and flips his coat around searching for the paper Dean gave him. He finds the paper and lets out a sigh of relief, holding it to his chest and closing his eyes. Cas sits back down on the futon and stares at the note, re-reading it over and over. He grabs his flip phone and puts the number in his contacts. Cas hit the call button and put the phone to his ear. It rang once. Cas second guessed himself and hung up. He curls up with a blanket and surfs the TV for something good. He settles on a crappy tv show; Dr. Sexy M.D. He watches an episode before his phone rings, playing 'Hey Jude'. He opens it,
"Hello?"
"Cas? Is that you? Dean. From the convenient store?" Dean's grizzly voice fills the speaker.
"Dean." Cas breathes, feeling his face heat up. His heart skips a beat and his stomach gets filled with butterflies.
"So-uh-what're you doing Saturday?" Dean asks, hesitantly.
Cas, in awe, replied happily,
"Nothing, why?"
"Well, Sam and I are gonna watch the game. You in?" Dean said with a hint of excitement in his voice.
"I'd-yeah, I'd love to."
"Oh and Sam hasn't shut up about that Gabriel guy, so do you mind bringing him along?" Dean chuckles.
"I'm sure he'd love to come."
"Great. I'll text you the address. See you then." Dean hangs up.
"See you then." Cas whispers into the phone, even though no one will hear it but him. Cas calls Gabe,
"Yellow?" Gabe answers.
"Hey Gabe."
"Hey shy guy what's up?"
"Dean invited me and you to watch the game with them on Saturday." Cas attempts to mask his happiness.
"No can do. Busy Saturday."
"Sam'll be there-." Cas chirps in.
"Did you say Saturday? I might be able to come. When and where?" Cas gives a small laugh,
"I'll call you and let you know."
"Ba-bye." Gabe says, a bit disappointed, and hangs up. Cas turns Dr. Sexy M.D. back on and cuddles up in the blankets.
