Chapter 8: The Audition

The next day

Xi bie followed Shen fie to the venue for the audition.

Shen fie said to her " The movie is an imaginary drama based on a novel , so it indeed has an extraordinary background . The male lead is the popular A- Lister jang dong- gu .The role you are trying for is the female lead role as Qingcheng , it will be good for you to get the role .

Qingcheng is a starving girl who wanders around the land in search of food . She chances upon a boy, tricks him , steal a mantou from him, and runs away . She encounters the goddess of Manshen and accepts an offer to enjoy a wealthy and luxurious life and become the most beautiful woman in the land.

However she has a price to pay: she will never find everlasting and true love. She becomes the king concubine when she grows up.

General Guangimg defeats a large army of barbarians with only 1,000 soldier and rushes back to save the king , who is besieged in the palace by the traitorous Duke Wuhuan .He meets Manshen who tells him someone wearing his Crimson Armour will commit a regicide and tarnish his reputation . A while later , Guangimg is caught off guard and injured by Snow Wolf , Wuhuan's henchman , but is saved by his slave , kunlun. He orders kunlun to wear his Crimson Armour and save the king . When kunlun asks his master how he can identify the king , Guangimg tells him the king is the one without weapon . Kunlun arrives at the place and mistakes Qingcheng for the king because she is unharmed , and instead kills the king , who has just drawn his sword . He flees with Qingcheng , but they end up being cornered at a cliff by Wuhuan and his henchmen . Wuhuan promises to not harm Qingcheng if kunlun jumps off the cliff .

Kunlun jumps off the cliff but survives the fall. In the meantime, Guangimg's subordinates accuse their General of killing the king and turn against him.

Kunlun returns, saves his master and gives him back his Crimson Armour . They went to rescue Qingcheng from Wuhuan later. Qingcheng falls in love with Guangimg after mistaking him for the person who jumped off the cliff . On the other hand, kunlun is captured by Wuhuan , who realises he is actually the one who killed the king . While Guangimg and Qingcheng lead a happy life in the countryside, kunlun uses his speed power to see the veil of Time and learns that Wuhuan is responsible for the destruction of his family and homeland.

Snow Wolf also tells kunlun that no one is capable of crossing over to the other side of the veil of time .

Wuhuan lures Guangimg back to the palace and captured him . He then places Guangimg , kunlun and Qingcheng on a show trial for regicide . During the trial, kunlun confesses that he killed the king, and Qingcheng realises he is actually the one who saved her earlier. Guangimg , kunlun and Qingcheng are sentenced to death but they break free and fight Wuhuan , who tells Qingcheng he is the boy she stole mantou from . As a result of Qingcheng betraying his trust, Wuhuan grew up in hatred and became the evil person he is today . Both Wuhuan and Guangimg die in the fight while kunlun is fatally wounded . Kunlun survives after wearing Snow Wolf's immortality robe . Manshen appears when kunlun and Qingcheng are attempting to pass through the veil of time , and tells Qingcheng that the promises made between deities and humans are as fragile as ordinary promise . Qingcheng has finally found her true love and thus given herself an opportunity to choose again. Manshen advises her to choose wisely . The script ended with the opening scene showing Qingcheng ,as a little girl , wandering around .

Xi bie nodded her head in understanding , Even though she felt that such an important role is normally given to A- Lister and B- Lister celebrities, she looked forward to the audition.

" Fighting" Shen fie said raising her fist

Xi bie smiled as she entered her dressing room . She was already accustomed to these type of auditions back when she was abroad , she had specially put on a green short dress and primped herself looking neat and fresh , she stood up and waiting at the venue hall .

Next, Xi bie

The staff and the director heard the name from inside and flipped through her portfolio . As an unknown actress, the staff and the director looked forward to seeing her performance . Such an important role was not typically given to new actresses .

' maybe she was just another actress that some investors had squeezed into the line up ' the director thought to himself .

When he raised his head, he instantly saw a girl who looked as pure as Jade ,she lowered her head and bowed respectfully . When she looked up, the was a slight blush on her face . Her lips were like petals of marigold flowers , they could make one drool with desire . Her eyes were like rippled lakes and when the stage light shine on her beautiful white paled face , her eyelashes fluttered gently and left faint shadows on her lower eyelid, those eyes can light the desire of a man and create disturbance within .

In an industry where plastic surgery had become the order of the day . It was truly rare to find a young actress who was naturally beautiful .

The staff and the director quickly looked down and went through her portfolio once again.

Xi bie,22 years old , female , she was a rookie actress and had never participated in any roles in Z city.

Her ethereal appearance as she stood there was truly beautiful and unforgettable.

The entire room went silent , one could have heard a pin drop in the silence of the room .

Everyone's attention was on the pure looking girl on the stage , decked in green , she made one feel they had fallen into a pit of endless grass with beautiful fragrance , where they keep drifting without any chance of escape .

Xi gong was also there for an audition as she was an A- Lister celebrity under Fahen entertainment , she pulled the curtains and saw Xi bie on the stage , she was stunned .
Her eyebrows furrowed looking at everyone's reactions ,she could not help but think bitterly.

' since when has this slut been back '
She thought as she felt uneasy within.

Xi bie recited the passage that was given to her . When she finished , she looked up and saw everyone's stunned expression and felt embarrassed .

She knew she did well but why did her heart feel dense like this role was not meant to be hers .

" Am done with my performance director" she said bringing them back from their transfixed state.

The director seems not to have heard her as he was still lost in thought .

She walked out quietly.
