Unedited.

When my mother died my life flashed before my eyes, life became meaningless. It was like I was stuck in a joy sucking black hole, with no way of escaping. I lost interest in everything I loved. My world was falling apart, things went for bad, worse to worst.

The only thing that brought me happiness, was spending time with my cousin Amanda, she doesn't like when people call her mandi but I do that for fun sometimes. We are the same age 15 ;15 but she's older; with some months . She lived with me because her parent had some financial issues, so we open our home to her.

At first, when she came ,I didn't like her but later I warmed up to her and now she is like a sister I never had . I shared my extremely large room with her, my bed was at the left side of the room while hers was at the right.

To be truthful she was the only one who I could turn to for advise in this difficult time. Her advise was always stay strong things will get better, she was the only one who actual cared about me, i guess my cousin has turned to a sister for life.

Few months later, after my mother died, my Father brought home a complete stranger. She was a very beautiful woman, I can't lie about that, she was black in completions, she had long hair with beautiful golden eyes, her smile could melt any guys heart. She was the definition of beauty but her character was completely contrary to her beauty. Her behaviour was like that of a witch.

I couldn't believe my father could bring a woman so ugly on the inside to torment my life.

This made me think of mum, what she must be going through , watching this from heaven?

Most times,I and Amanda would sit down just to look at her from head to toe ,we would ask ourselves "what my dad saw in this bitch?"

"Is it the beauty? Cause mum is much more beautiful than her inside and out." We would say uniformly whispering.

We never understood how my Father could forget about his wife so easily and bring a bitch to replace my sweet and caring mother.

At that time they were still dating so we thought if we could show my father her witch like behaviour, maybe he would reconsider but after seeing how she treats us, my foolish father fell head over hells for her and asked for her hand in marriage right in front of us. We hated him for that, because of his lunatic behaviour we distanced ourselves from him.

We promised ourselves that we would keep my mother alive in this house and in our hearts.

Their wedding was coming up tomorrow which would be the worst day of my life, no the day my mother died was the worst.

I and Amanda were sitting on a large blue couch watching an American movie when I heard a thick voice yelling my name. It was that witch again

" Precious, have you washed your plate?" She asked form the kitchen.
" This woman is a wet blanket." I whispered to Amanda. "No but I'm doing something." I lied.

"What?"

" None of your business, you are not my mum so you can't ask me questions." I barked at her while crossing my legs.

She didn't say a word after that. I was surprised because normally she wasn't this calm, maybe it was because she would legally become my mum tomorrow.

" You know she will get married to your dad tomorrow and she would legally become your mum." Amanda clarified.

"As long as she didn't give birth to me she is not my mum." I disputed. "Let me enjoy my last day of freedom before this bitch comes and ruin me" I deflected.

"After tomorrow our lives will turn to that of Cinderella but without the happy ending" She remarked as both of us laughed hard.

We continued watching the program to avoid miss bitch, that was our nickname for her, her real name was actually Katie.

We watched television for a while. Later when miss bitch left the kitchen I went in to wash my plate.

Earlier that day; my dad gave me his credit card for no particular reason, he just told me to have fun. So that was what I did, have fun.

I went back to the sitting room and dragged Amanda up for the couch.

"Lets go have some fun." I said while showing her the credit card.

"Precious no your dad will talk." She replied scared.

"Let me deal with my dad and he told me to have fun so we are not doing anything wrong." I responded with a simile.

That day was spent in the mall shopping for shoes and clothes, which we had no intention of wearing in the nearest future.

When we came back from the mall we felt fatigued, so we went straight to bed.
