A New Beginning

It was a Saturday morning. This was the day my life changed for the worst. I was forced to go to Lekki for their stupid wedding .

There I was at the wedding reception which I was dragged to , I was getting very bored because I had to look at that woman's annoying face.

My dad and Katie were talking about how they first met and their love life to some people who came before the wedding started, it was torture all the way for me.

"I and my beautiful Bride, Katie first crossed paths during a competitive game of trivial at the tavern. After the game I saw this beautiful angel, that was when I knew, I have found the one for me. " He blabbed.

"A first date took place the very next day with dinner and a movie. It was only few weeks later that he took me to his house, he wanted me to move in with him but that was not possible because we were not official wedded, that was how our whirlwind romance began." Katie continued.

"We are so looking forward to starting new chapters together and we can't wait to celebrate with the children." My dad responded while looking at me and Katie.

"This is the time to official tie the knot and we couldn't be more excited." She yapped.

The wedding was about to start, there was music and dancing but I didn't enjoy any of it. I just sat down in an isolated part of the reception watching the terrifying drama happening in front of me.

Later on, my dad came to sit beside me, Immediately I knew something was up, because he cared little about what I thought and felt.

"Hey kiddo" He started a conversation.

"Hey " I said with a fake smile " what is the drill?" I continued.

"Nothing I just want to"

"Don't say anything I know you don't care about me or mum so you can leave, just go and talk to miss angel." I interjected. I didn't want to call her miss bitch because my dad will take it another way and thing will just get worst.

"Who told you I don't care about you and you are meant to be happy for I  and Katie." He yapped.

I noticed he didn't say anything about my mum, was it that he has forgotten about her or he never loved her and he as being seeing this woman in secret. In fact at my mum burial he didn't feel hurt or did he kill my mum just to be with this witch.

"Yah yah yah I'm meant to be happy so what If I'm not" I jeered.

"What do you mean" he asked confused.

"I am not happy with this wedding. Do you expect me to forget about my mum and accept this woman into my life, no that can't happen, maybe you have forgotten about her but I haven't" I concluded as I walked away from the wedding reception.

I had no idea where I was, or where I was going to because I haven't been there before this was my first time in Lekki. All I knew was that I don't want to be at that wedding because everything at that wedding annoys me especially Katie's face.

I kept walking, trying to forget about Katie and my dad , I came across two paths one to the right and the other to the left. I decided to take the path on the left which lead to a park full of animals and plants it was a very beautiful site indeed. I couldn't stop my self from playing with the animals. Well; the friendly ones like the monkeys and zebras.

The dangerous animal, I just observation them from afar . I almost spent three hours admiring mother nature. I felt like my mum was there with me.

That was the day I discovered my love for animals, I laid down on the soft  green  grass while the monkeys were playing on my body. I heard someone crying close to where I was, so I followed the sound of tears.

"Wow it's you" I said surprised .
