Out For A Walk

The place was absolutely new for me. I lied to Veet, I actually wasn't going to Canada. I just went to a different place far from him. I was not sure if I could make any friends or not.

Pa took me to my new school. Goodmothergracious the school feels like a palace. I can't stop my eyes from looking around.

I entered my new classroom and I greeted everyone and introduced my self. I was looking for a seat until I saw a vacant seat beside a boy who was sleeping. I went there to sit but I feel like something is not right. I was about to sit when the boy removed the chair. Fortunately I didn't fall down otherwise it would be embarrassing for me on my first day.

I shouted, "What the hell?"

He looked at me and said, "Don't come near me. Go sit at other place."

I wasn't in the mood to argue further so I was about to leave when a girl came and said, "Where are you going? Homeroom teacher asked you to sit there." She pointed at the seat beside that rude boy. I looked at him. He gave me a death glare then put his head down again. I didn't care I just sit there.

The classes began. He kept his head down the whole class. I was sure that he pay no heed to studies. At lunch time the girls came to me and asked where I am from. They asked about my previous school. They were so good. We became friends shortly after.

It was a wonderful day. I made a good friendship with Meera. She is a studious and a wonderful girl.

Pa already cooked dinner for me. We ate together happily after that accident.

Pa slept early because he has many business work to do. I was doing my homework. But I can't sleep because of this new environment. I decided to walk outside for some fresh air.

I was walking on the side of the roads when I saw a basketball court. Luckily the door was open. I was dying to play basketball. Seeing the basketball court I couldn't hold up my desire to play. I rushed inside and took the ball.

I played few rounds by myself and practice my skills. Suddenly I heard a voice saying, "You play well."

I got startled and looked around. I saw a tall figure was standing not so far away. I wasn't able to see his face properly. He came forward and to my amusement he was the rude boy earlier.

"You..." I blurted out.

"Yes, me." He said sarcastically.

"What are you doing here?"

"Of course I am here to play."

I scolded myself internally because of my stupidity. Of course he would come here to play.

"What are you doing here?" He asked.

I said, "Um, I am new here and also I am not that familiar to this environment so I couldn't fall asleep. So I decided to walk around. But I saw the court so I came to play few rounds."

He asked, "You played like a professional. For how long you are playing basketball."

"10 years. And you?"

"5 years. By the way you can join our girl's basketball team if you're willing."

I suddenly remembered of Veer. I felt sad.

I said, "I wish I could play."

"Why? What happened?" He asked curiously.

"I can't play because the said so. I got into an accident few months ago."

I lowered my head. Suddenly I realised that why I am telling him this things.

I quickly said, "Ah I am sorry. I shouldn't have say that." And I turned to leave.

But I stopped in the midway. I turned around. He was holding my hands. I was confused at his behaviour.

He looked at his hand and let go of my hand awkwardly.

"I-I-I am sorry for what I did in class earlier." He stammered while speaking.

I was stunned. But I smiled and said, "It's okay."

He further said, "Can we be friends? If you're willing. By the way my name is Sohan."

I think for a moment and then said, "Of course. I'm Shayra." And smiled.

He smiled brightly at me showing his bunny teeth. I couldn't help myself but smiling at him again.

I thought that he would be rude guy, but to my surprise he was a soft bunny  under his rough appearance.

I bid him bye and came back to my room. I thought about our meeting. It was awesome and of course his smile was super cute.

But I felt an immersed pain in my ankle. I understand that it was for my playing basketball. My tear ducts filled up and a tear drop escape.

It hurts every time when I think about Veer and not playing basketball.
