Chapter 2Pipers POV:
I've been walking next to this very tall guy for a while now. It's crazy to think that I don't even know him, yet we met only a few hours ago but I find him so easy to talk to. Plus I've noticed how he has an accent, like he speaks English but certain words you can really tell that he's not from around here.
Luke has longer strides than me, so I've been trying to keep up and not make it look like I'm falling behind. We've just been walking the sidewalk, and it's a pretty nice light rain now since the wind has lifted.
I know since he's taller than me that he can't see my face now, since my umbrella is in the way. So I know he only hears the sound of my voice as we talk. Knowing that I'm able to hind my face I check out his appearance. He's wearing dark skinny jeans ripped at the knees. Also he has on a dark jacket and a red snap back on backwards, which is the less doughy way to wear one.
I really love the sound of the rain drops hitting the top of my blue umbrella. The sound is so soothing and magical to me. Most girls would hate living here where it's always like this and you can almost never have a good hair day. But for someone like me, I've learned to embrace it for it's true beauty.
Just as we're standing at a corner of an intersection waiting for the walk sign to come on, a huge truck races by us. And of course there's no way it could miss the puddle, and I'm soaked.
Now my umbrella is at an angle where I can't be hidden under it any longer. I look up at Luke and he looks down at me and his expressions are worried. "I guess that means it's time to start heading back." I say shrugging the whole thing off, already trying to make a joke out of it. "Are you alright?" He asks. I can tell he is worried and a little surprised about how I'm handling this. "Yeah I'm fine. It's not like this is the first time it's happens before."
It didn't take us long to get back to the apartment building after that. We walked in and got in the elevator. "What floor?" He asked. "Third." He smiled "me too." Just now I happen to notice that he has a dimple on his right cheek.
Once we got to our floor we stepped out and started walking. "What's your room number?" He asked. "309." "You?" I asked back, looking up at his tall stature. "316."
Since mine was first I started heading for it, with Luke following beside me. When I stopped I said "well this is me." It was silent there for a bit as I waited for him to say something. "I guess I'll see you around then." "Yep. See you later Luke." After those words left my mouth he turned and started for his own room, with one hand in his pocket while the other held his umbrella.
I reached in my coat pocket for my keys but didn't feel them. Quickly I checked my other pocket, nothing. Then my pant pockets, still not there. Great.
"Hey Luke?" I yelled loud enough for him to hear me, from down the hall. He stopped in his tracks and turned back. "I locked myself out. Can I clean up in yours?" "Sure come on," he said waving me over.
Inside I found myself waiting by the door as I looked around. For a guys apartment it was fairly clean.
I set my umbrella down by where he placed his, and removed my boots. "Do you have something I can change into maybe?" I asked. "Yeah I'll go grab something." And he was off to another room.
Curiosity got the bests of me, and I followed him. This must be his room. It had white walks and looked average with your bed, dresser and a desk, including a chair and some bean bags by a tv that had a game station hooked up to it.
He was going through his dresser grabbing come clothes. "Here these should work." He handed me them. "Where's your bathroom?" "Right across the hall." He pointed at it. I smiled and left him there as I went to go change.
As I finished changing I looked myself over in the mirror. He had given me a pair of his sweat pants, which weren't too much longer since he only had to be about 6 inches taller than me. And an old band shirt. I could tell it was old because the logo is wearing off of it.
I hung my wet clothes over the side of the tub and went back out into the living room to find Luke. I found him in the kitchen leaning against the counter doing something on his phone.
He had taken off his hat reveling his flattened blond hair. Also now I noticed that he had a lip ring that he was playing with between his teeth, while concentrating on his phone. It's weird that I haven't noticed that before, since it's right on his face.
When he finally took his blue eyes off of his phone and saw me, looking me over and he smiled. "Hey, the clothes work out okay?" And he now stood to his full height. "I think so I just had to roll the sweats a few times, but it's all good."
"Ima see if I can get a hold of my sister since she has my spare key." "Okay. Do you wanna watch a movie till then?" He asked. "Sure." And I ran over and took a seat on the couch, making him laugh at my childish ways.
