I don't have to wait for a very long time. She walks outside right after I do, but I don't see her. "Hey Jake!" It is a familiar voice to me already. I turn around. "Hey, Sasha. Sorry, didn't see ya were walkin' behind me," I say. "Don't worry about it. You know the way? Let's go, then," she answers. "Yeah, this way," I say, and I walk to the right, here we go.
We walk towards the club in silence. When we arrive there, she says: "Is this the place? It looks cozy!" "Yeah, here we are. It ain't very big or something," I answer and then open the door for her.
A friendly voice calls in our way: "Welcome! Haven't seen you 'round here yet. Are you new?" It's the trainer and he said that more to Sasha. Then he sees me, and waves. "How'd you manage to take that lazy kid here?" he says, pointing at me. "Well, Rick, you couldn't be any nicer to me, could ya?" I say, and I grin. Sasha looks at me, then she looks at Rick, the trainer. "Are there any trial lessons I could attend to?" she asks. Rick nods. "Yeah, there are. You start with 7 trial lessons, then. There's a lesson every monday. So, if you want to, you could join the group of today. The lessons usually start at half past 4," he answers. He walks away and comes back after a few moments with some paperworks in his hands. "These are for signing up for the trials. If you want to, ofcourse." Sasha grabs one and searches for a pen. When she finds one, she starts writing her name on it. I grab one, too. "Ahh, lazy boy's finally going to do some sports?" Rick says. I ignore him and grab a pen from my bag.
"Lazy, huh? Why, then, did you want to do archery right this time?" she asks, while we walk back to school. We both have to go past school to go home, so we can walk together. More time to spend with her. Yeah, it's not much, but it's something.
The lesson was good, I've learnt a lot. Archery is way different than you think. And it is way harder than you'd say. I've done my best to shoot a five. That's at least something to start with.
"Well, there isn't really someone I know at the club, so I wouldn't have some friends over there. I mean, there's no fun if there are no friends. Now that you'd go, I thought I'd go and try too. I do know ya, after all. Not much, but a little," I answer. She nods slowly, thinking about it, I think.
When I'm home, I try to sneak upstairs immediately. I'm not really into a talk with my sister.
"Jake! You're home! Wouldn't you tell me how your day has been? You're home so late," I hear behind me. That didn't work, I guess. I walk off the stairs, into the living room. I plump down on the couch and say: "My day was OK. Met a few new classmates." I grab my phone and see if I have new messages. I have a few. "That's all? If so, then why are you so late?" Oh come on, just let me go. "I went to apply for the archery club with a new friend I made. Now, can I go upstairs to do my maths?" I answer and get up. Before I'm at the door she asks another question already. "Who?" "Sasha, and it's nothing special. Bye!" "Wait, Sasha? Isn't that a girl? What-" she starts, but I can't hear her anymore.
Once in my room, I plump on my chair and turn on my phone. I join in a call with Lucas and some others on discord.
"Hey Jake! How was your date?" Lucas says, as soon as he sees that I'm in the call. "Lucas, whatcha mean with 'his date'? Jake, tell us all about it, now." I hear Stan's voice. Then Lucia, one of the two girls in the call, asks me: "Jake, what about it? Met a competition for me? She won't win that, nobody is as unique as I am." I finally get the time to answer. "Lucia, ya know I'm not into ya like that. And, for the rest, I ain't tellin' ya anything about it." I say. "Aw man! Are ya serious? Are ya ashamed? Or scared? We want to know!" "Maybe tomorrow. I have homework to do, though. So I'm leavin' now. See ya," I say, and then leave the call again. Not now.
I start up my laptop and open youtube to play music. I put on my boxes. Loud music drums through my room. It's my favourite band, of course. Then I open my math book and notebook. Let's start this year with doing homework. Though the concentration is not really catching right now.
