((These are the reference for Orville and Blathers in all of these stories!!))

The droning default airport music seemed to drive Orville insane. Orville heard the same thing everyday. The repeating default music, the click of his keyboard, the hum of the flouresnt lights and the AC, and there was the occasional annoying honeybee that would fly in there. He felt like smashing his face into his keyboard.

He stretched with a groan and looked outside the window on his right. There was heavy fog ontop of the treetops. You couldn't see out for miles. And even though the waters were clear the skies sure wasn't; so Wilbur informed Orville to send a message to all residents saying flying would be cancelled today.

He looked back on his desk; a radio that was always turned off. It was collecting dust and was rarely, if ever, on. He found it very unprofessional to be listening to music while on the job, but since there would be no flights today....

Poor Orville couldn't stand it anymore. He dug around under his desk until he found old CDs. The only thing that seemed to be on all the radio stations were talk shows and the #1 hits of today...which seemed to be all K.K. Slider.

Don't get him wrong, Orville liked K.K. but he wasn't a die hard fan, and he had music tastes of his own.

Orville blew the dust off of the CD and popped it in, the pop electric melody of 'Out of touch' by Hall & Goates started playing.

Growing up with his older brother and his father, they'd play classic 80s non stop. Orville used to hate it with a passion when he was younger but know he's grown to like it, appreciating the older genre.

Shake it up is all that we know
Using the bodies up as we go I'm waking up to fantasy
The shades all around aren't the colors we used to see
Broken ice still melts in the sun And times that are broken can often be one again We're soul alone
And soul really matters to me
Take a look around

Orville didn't realize he was shaking his hips with the beat, nor did he hear the little bell above the door ring.

You're out of touch
I'm out of time
But I'm out of my head when you're not around

He had his back turned to the door, not noticing the owl that was now watching him solo dance and badly high pitch singing.

Reaching out for something to hold
Looking for a love where the climate is cold
Manic moves and drowsy dreams
Or living in the middle between the two extremes
Smoking guns hot to the touch

Orville forgot how much he liked listening to his 'own' music for a change, it seemed even though he was on an island paradise, everyday was droning and the same.  He bent down to get a soda from the mini fridge in front of him, not stopping his off-key half attempted singing; it was actually getting louder now. "You're our of touch!! I'm out of time!! But I'm out of my head when your not around!!"

Would cool down if we didn't use them so much, yeah
We're soul alone
And soul really matters to me
Too much

He stood up and bumped the mini fridge close with his hip.  He took a drink of soda but quickly choked on it stopping dead in his tracks, seeing his owl friend giggling at him, trying to muffle the sound with his feathers.

You're out of touch
I'm out of time
But I'm out of my head when you're not around

Orville stood straight up with his arms pinned to his side, shades of red forming on his face in no time. Blathers noticed him and stood up straight too, having an embarrassed and bashful look on his face, as if he was the one in the wrong.

"Oh goodness me!! I'm sorry!! I-I just found it quite amusing!! I couldn't help but laugh!!" He clapped at Orville, thinking that would help this awkward situation.

Orville clears his throat and straightened his tie, he tried not averting his eyes or fidget with his hands, seeing as that would be unprofessional of him.

"I-I'm glad you liked it hehe...been practicing all week!!" He winked at blathers and gave him a smile, that seemed to impress the owl seeing as he wasn't cowering under his wings.

Blathers giggled, he's had interactions with the dodo before, whether it be too borrow 'plane fact' books for his own enjoyment or to schedule flights for his sister Celeste when she visits, he liked the dodos company, he was very funny and always energetic.

"I'm sorry...I should have called first I-"

"No it's fine, really!! I don't mind!!" He sat down in his rolly chair, the song seeming to fade out to where he could only hear blathers voice; but maybe that was his selective hearing.

"Well I've returned these books; riveting stuff really!! It really is wonderful how-" There he went on another one of his tangents. Orville just smiled and held his head with his hands, half listening to what he was saying and half paying attention to the owls details.

"I can't believe pilots are able to do that!! How brave-" Blathers stopped mid sentence to see Orville staring at him with a smile, seeming lost in his own thought.

"Oh dear I talk to much!! But anyways, here are the books!!" He carefully put them on the desk. Orville looked down at them, some of them were histories of planes from Orville's own little collection and some of them were straight up plane handbooks from when Wilbur was in the military. He didn't know why the owl was so invested in reading boring panflets, Orville about went to sleep everytime he tried too.

"Thank you!! I have a lot more books...want to borrow any more??" Orville couldn't help but scratch the back of his head nervously, this was an excuse to get blathers back in the airport but he didn't have to know that...

Blathers smiled and nodded "okay...I know today's not the best day since it's so bad and dreadful out today... but want to...maybe go get lunch sometime??" Blathers asked, trying to hid his blush on his face.

Orville took a minute to answer but quickly nodded "yeah sounds amazing!! Next Sunday??" He asked, already about to schedule it on his phone.

Blathers nodded, his face now fully enveloped in red "y-yes I can go on then!! S-see you then Orville!!" Blathers headed for the door, forgetting that he asked about borrowing books and went out, dispearring in the fog.

Orville put his hand behind his head and put his feet upon the desk, feeling a sense of accomplishment. He turned the radio up a smidge, closing his eyes listening to the classics happily.

You're out of touch
I'm out of time
But I'm out of my head when you're not around

((There's no reason I used this song; I've just been jammin to the classics and I headcannon the Dodo brothers as big 80 fans lol)

((I'm really proud on how this turned out; I've been in an art rut for the past few days and been frustrated that I can't do anything, This feels like a breakthrough and I will be updating often!!))
