Date night

Orville waited outside the doors of the museum.  He slicked his hair back more and took a deep breath.  He was out of his work clothes for once.  A red shirt and khakis, he didn't want to seem overly dressed just for a tour of the museum.  His cologne was on heavy and he even considered bringing flowers with him.

He didn't know why he was beating himself up so much...they've been dating for just two weeks and this was there first technical date. 

He opened the doors and saw blathers in a deep sleep at the front.  He couldn't help but smile and relax a bit.  He walked up and gently shook blathers shoulder.

"H-hoo!!" Blathers jumped and looked wide eyed at Orville.  Orville giggled thinking he was beyond cute.  Blather jumped a little too violently and rose his hand up to fix his glasses. 

After collecting himself he looked over at Orville and gave a bashful smile "oh my!! I'm sorry Orville I dozed off!! W-welcome to the museum!!" Blather grabbed Orvilles hand and shook it.  Now they both had blushes on there face, for two different reasons.

After they exchanged hellos Orville turned to the left "so where we going first-"  blathers jumped and was quick to grab his wrist "where gonna save that one for last!! I-If you don't mind..." blathers stuttered, afraid he came across as rude.  Orville smiled and nodded, seeing blathers too cute to ever be rude "sure, it must be something great there" Orville chuckled, not realizing that was the bug exhibit and not knowing his phobia yet.

Blathers smiled again and took his hand, guiding him to the aquarium.  While in the aquarium Orville just nodded and looked a little confused when blathers started talking about crawfish or something.  He really wasn't listening but he was trying.  He looked down at there linked hands, he face flushed but he looked back up at blathers who now seemed done with his presentation.

Orville panicked and wanted to look like he was listening "that's so cool!! T-there like little sea scorpions!!" Orville thought he was pretty clever with that line but blathers physically shivered and looked upset.  Orville frowned and averted his eyes "uhh...so how about the rest of the exhibit??"

They was now in the fossil exhibit after briefly checking out the art exhibit.  Orville was listening the best he could, because he found it actually fascinating but he couldn't get the look blathers gave him out of his head.  He looked like his skin was crawling and his feather was all puffed up in a disgusted manner.  Was it him?? Did he hate that stupid line so much?? Was he wearing too much cologne?? Blathers seemed to ignore that comment and went on with his happy cheery self, but Orville wanted to hit himself.  They took a break and had lunch in blathers kitchen, nothing fancy just sandwiches.

Trying his best to get the crawfish incident out of his head he got out of his chair and walked hand in hand with blathers in front of the last exhibit there; the bug exhibit. 

Orville noticed that blathers tightened the grip on his hand which was now a little sweaty.  Orville looked down to see blathers looking very scared all of the sudden.  Orville frowned "is something the matter??"

Blathers seemed to come back to it and shook his head and stepped forward "oh!! N-nothing... just...dreading this exhibit..."   Orville looked confused "why?-"  Before he could get an answer he was quickly dragged into the solarium.  Orville looked around in amazement, there were chirps and buzzing, the sun beaming down beautifully from the glass ceiling.  It had to be his favorite exhibit yet. 
Forgetting blathers was gripping his hand he took the scenery and calming sounds in, it reminded him of when he was a kid on summer nights.  "Oh blathers it's beautiful here, listen to the beetles-".

He didn't noticed how he snaked his arm around blathers shoulder, who was now cowering under Orville, covering his ears and closing his eyes "oh dear...I-I shouldn't have ate lunch before this..."

Orville had a worried look on his face, but blushing on account of how close they were.  "Blathers??" He asked, lifting his chin up to see his face.  His face was pitiful.  Looked like near tears in his eyes and was visibly shaking.    It hit Orville like a truck 'he's scared of bugs'.

Orville started laughing.  He held Blathers tight in a supportive hug "oh blathie!! Why didn't you tell me you was scared of bugs??" He said through the laugh.  Blathers seemed a little more relaxed "you...how did you know??"

Orville rolled his eyes "it's obvious now...unless your scared of me??" Orville said, giving a fake pout.  Blathers giggled and stood up straighter "no!! But you're right... it's a long story...but for now I have the task to water the plants." Blathers seemed to distract himself by looking up at Orville's face.  Orville smiled at this, glad he could help Blathers out.

They made there way to the butterfly solarium, where Orville shooed away a butterfly from atop a watering can while Blathers quickly grabbed it.  "Ah I'm sorry...I didn't want to do work while you're hear but I figured I'd be less scared if you were here...and I proved myself right."  Blathers blushed and looked up at Orville, who was protectively behind him swatting at the bugs that tried to some near them.  Blathers didn't even noticed the snail that was crawling on his hand.  "It's no prob-" Orville stopped mid sentence to look down at the snail.  Blathers seemed confused but turned when he felt something on his hand

Blathers paled and nearly dropped to the floor.  Orville held him by the waist and quickly took the snail off, Orville giggled "...want me to finish the rest or are you good??"   Blathers stood up and rubbed at his head "I'm alright...let's just get this over with..."  Blathers groaned out before shakily going back to water the plants.  Orville smiled and bent down to kiss his cheek, he'd consider this date a success~
