Reita was crowned Miss World on November 17, 1966. The event took place in London, UK. She was the first Indian and Asian contestant to win this title. She was previously crowned Miss Bombay 1966 and Eve’s Weekly Miss India 1966. This beauty queen refused to work in films or model. Instead, she went on to get an M.B.B.S. degree from Grant Medical College & Sir J. J. Group of Hospitals. Later, she went to London to study at King’s College Hospital.
