Before we get started I just want to point out that this is a Thirteen fanfiction. You might want to read the story first (Find it here: http://www.wattpad.com/story/891713-thirteen).
This is basically my interpretation of why Lexi hates Sebastian so much.
~~~
Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if it never happened...
When I was brought to Nova Sebastian wasn't around. It was just Abraxas, Rufus and me. We were Nova's Golden Trio. Sure, I had other friends but Braxy and Rufus never let me down. These were times before Rufus and I started dating and Dani come along to save us all. It was nice.
Then Sebastian turned up. He was only a baby and was the cutest little thing ever. I loved to play with him. The scientists gave him to Saffron because she was like a mother to us all anyway. Even when he was a baby his blond hair was unruly and never laid down flat. I think that's when our bond really started to form but when he was five the scientists took him away and we didn't see him again for years.
Even as a baby he showed signs of his super strength that would come in use in later years. Playing with him became a hazard as he enjoyed gripping your fingers in his cute little hands and not letting go no matter what you did. Derek broke more than a couple of fingers thanks to our little terror.
When he returned he looked about 17. Of course he didn't really remember much about any of us and he certainly didn't remember me. I didn't know what the scientists had done to him over the years he had been away, nor did I care. All that mattered was that he was back with us. Subjects should stick together.
We became best friends within weeks. However slowly but surely I pushed Abraxas and Rufus away and replaced them with the new guy. I did everything with him, but my favourite part was the training.
"Come on, get up! You're made of tougher stuff than that," I teased Sebastian who was on his knees panting after only the third round of our training session. He may have super strength but I was more agile. I dodged his punches and managed to land a couple good strong kicks to his groin.
"Lexi, I thought we agreed you would keep away from my... vital regions," he said with a groan as he dragged himself to his feet.
"You play with me and there are no rules, little Sebby." I giggled, bouncing on my heels. Without warning he lunged at me, taking me off guard. I yelped and fell but was on my feet again in seconds. "Oh it's on!"
We continued to fight for hours.
Rufus didn't really like training very much and training with Abraxas wasn't safe because of his strength and size.
At the time I didn't even realise how much time I spent away from them. Before Sebastian I would eat breakfast with them, then we would hang out until lunch. After we would have to go our separate ways for testing but by dinner we were always together again. Of course Abraxas never actually ate with us but at that time he was allowed in the dining hall. After Sebastian though I only saw them at meal times but we didn't sit together. I sat with Sebby and only Sebby.
I can't believe what I did to them.
They confronted me about it once.
"Lexi, we need to talk."
"Huh?" The noise came from nowhere. I looked round and spotted Rufus. He looked almost sad, I didn't know why.
"We need to talk. Come on," Rufus prompted. I gave Sebastian a weird look but he only shrugged in return.
"I'll be back in a minute Seb." I spotted Rufus rolling his eyes out of the corner of my own. Did he not like me talking to Sebastian?
He led me out of the dining hall and through to Abraxas' room. He was waiting for me. I was so confused. Why did they want to talk to me? I mean I know I didn't spend as much time with them as I did before but I didn't think that really bothered them.
"Look Lex, we both really care about you and-"
"How long is this going to take?" I said cutting Rufus off, "Sebastian and I are training later."
Rufus sighed. "It's about Sebastian."
"What about him?"
Abraxas spoke up next. "We think he's trouble."
"Scarlett said she feels a dark force surrounding him. She says that he's dangerous and that you should stay away from him," Rufus said. He was lying and even if he wasn't Scarlett was mental, why should her words mean anything? Sebastian was a good man. He was kind and caring when he wanted to be. He stood up for me when I needed and trained with me whenever I felt like it.
"You're jealous," I murmured.
"What?" Rufus blurted.
"You're jealous," I said louder than before. "You're jealous that I'm not spending as much time with you anymore. Get over yourselves." I turned and left without waiting for them to respond. I couldn't believe that they were seriously implying that there was something wrong with Seb.
I was so angry that day.
But they turned out to be right after all...
Years passed like days. Sebby and I just got closer and closer. New people came to Nova. Scientists came and went. Stuff happened.
But then, Sebastian changed. He became colder towards me. He stopped sitting with me at meal times and refused to train with me. I didn't know why but it left me on my own and I didn't like it.
One day, Sebby broke.
"YOU MONSTERS!" Sebastian screamed, thrusting an arm out and hitting two of the scientists that were trying to restrain him. They fell to the floor, blood flowing profusely from their heads. They were dead.
I couldn't move.
Sebastian threw several other white coats to the floor, cracking both the floor and their heads with the strength. He picked up one man by the neck and slowly squeezed until his bones were shattered and his neck was a fraction of the size it used to be. He turned and stared me in the eye, dropping the white coat.
I couldn't speak.
"Lexi..." he drifted off as more a number of guards rounded the corner armed with some heavy machinery.
"GET ON THE GROUND," one of them yelled.
My legs came back to life and I ran.
Of course I had witnessed death before, I have been alive for thousands of years, but seeing my best friend killing those men in such a brutal way- I didn't know what to do.
That night I cried. I vowed never to show Sebastian any sympathy ever again. For years after the event I took the piss out of him, constantly winding up because that's all he deserved. No one else knows what happened or why I hate him like I do and I plan to keep it that way.
A few days after the event I dragged myself back to Abraxas and Rufus. It was years before they fully excepted me again. Rufus and I starting dating not that long afterwards. To tell the truth he was my distraction from Sebastian but I found myself falling in love with him nevertheless.
Sometimes I wonder what would've happened if I never saw the event unfold. If Sebastian would still be my best friend. I don't know but I often find my mind drifting to thoughts of him when I lay awake at night.
I loved you and I loved you and now I hate you... and I'll never forgive you.
I hate it so much but never mind. I hope you liked it Abbie! Sorry for doing that to your characters but I couldn't help it!
