Chapter Three

"Right, room sweet room." I say, unlocking the door with my key card.

I stand with my back against the door, holding it open so that she can walk through.

"Wow, Hero?" She says; enthusiasm thick in her tone of voice.

"Not bad, huh?" I smile.

"Not bad!? Have you seen the view? It's insane!" She clasps her hands to her hair.

"Yeah, it'll do, I suppose." I say sarcastically and head over to the large window, beside her.

She looks at me smiling; her eyes wide with excitement.

"All I can say is, ugh." She sighs.

"That's it? 'Ugh?'" I laugh and frown.

"No, I just. Can't find the words.." Her eyes widen and narrow.

I study her, my smile gradually fading.

"How about.. Beautiful." I suggest.

She turns to look at me.

"Or.. Breathtaking?" I tilt my head and turn to fully face her.

She instantly looks away and I feel a little bad for making her feel so shy.

Then, the reality of what I had just said sunk in along with what I meant.

The fact I wasn't talking about the views, even though I had to admit, they were pretty amazing..

Truth is, I was describing her.

Did she know it?

My eyes still fixed on the side of her blushing face; I pulled my phone out of my pocket and swiped right.

"Hey mum." I smile.

"Hero!! Finally..."

"What?" I laugh, walking over to the dressing table.

"You really know how to make me worry, don't you?" My mum scolds.

"Sorry, I was going to ring. I just.." I sigh.

"Who is that?" My mum exclaims.

"Who?" I pretend to have no idea what or who she could be possibly talking about.

"Er, the beautiful and stunning lady behind you?"

I say nothing and let my eyes do all the talking by staring wide eyed at my mum, hoping she can read my expression that clearly says "Mum, shush.."

Only she doesn't shush, she fucking continues.

"You never told me you had a girlfriend, Hero? I thought you weren't interested in all that! You said -"

"Yes, mum. I know what I said.." I quickly cut in, hoping she wouldn't feel the need to clarify any further.

"You said, and I quote, that you would only have a girlfriend when you met the right one and that that one would be THE one, for life."

I set the phone down on the stand infront of me and then sat on the bed closing my eyes and sighing.

"Are you done?" I ask, my head in my hands and peering from in between my fingers at the horror show that is now my life..

"Done?" She asks innocently.

"Yes, done. Done embarrassing me." I point out the obvious.
