Chapter 5: Minato Bound
Junko whimpered as she awoke, cast into an overwhelming sense of insecurity at the absence of Ryoko’s soothing warmth. Her infantile whimpers grew progressively more desperate – pleading, almost – the more she roused from her sleep. A soft, commanding shush came from one side of the room and the thick mattress suddenly shifted a little towards her lightly quivering body. It was only when she soon became engulfed in a reassuring familiar embrace did the younger girl cease whimpering. Secure now, she snuggled up closer to the older girl, receiving an endearing kiss on the crown of her head. The warmth of the older girl remained for a few seconds longer before it slowly began dissipating, indicating that Ryoko was moving away once more. Junko gave a sleepy whine of protest but did nothing to stop her.
“What is Ryoko-sama doing?” She inquired groggily, her high, sweet voice heavy with sleep.
“Making sure we have everything before we move out.” Came Ryoko’s monotonous response. “I am packing our clothes – they finished drying roughly ten minutes ago. Now, go back to sleep. Junko will suffer if she is not well-rested.”
The younger girl stubbornly disobeyed and instead sat up, rubbing the sleep from her droopy eyes with her small hands. Discontented with her disobedience, Ryoko glided over to the bed once more to steal a quick wake-up kiss from her lips. It was sleepy and uncoordinated; rough, too. Junko kissed back softly, aware of the older girl’s discontentedness. If Ryoko was to suffer of lack of sleep, she would too.
“Ohayou gozaimasu, Junko-chan.” Ryoko whispered softly before strolling off back to their half-packed bags resting in the corner.
Junko stretched fitfully for a moment and soon joined her. That made packing go much faster, and they were completely finished in a mere ten minutes. Still a little exhausted from the week’s activities, Ryoko collapsed onto the fluffy bed, only to be followed by Junko whom draped her fragile self over the older girl’s flat stomach. It rose and fell steadily with each relaxed breath Ryoko took. Yawning, the younger girl shifted her head’s position a little so that she could hear Ryoko’s heart; strong and tranquil. It had been quite a while…since she had heard it.
“…Ryoko-sama…?” She started rather quietly; unsurely. Her mind had unwillingly wandered to her thoughts the previous night, about the depths of Ryoko’s feelings for her.
“Yes, Junko-chan?” Ryoko’s voice was a little distant, almost as if she was falling asleep a little.
“…I…I was wondering.”
“About what?”
A soft silence ensued the question. The younger girl inhaled gently and curled up a little more in insecurity.
“…Never mind.”
Another silence swamped the room; the only sound being the occasional meaningless sighs from the two. Had there been a lack of noise rattling in her head at the moment, Junko would have taken a nap right there. She did not desire to spoil the peaceful moment, however, so she remained awake, her attention flickering in and out of her thoughts.
“This is nice…” She commented softly into the silence after a while.
Yet another peaceful silence invaded, and it was a while before one of them spoke again.
“Junko-chan…“ Ryoko’s monotonous voice suddenly sounded the slightest bit uncertain. Junko lifted her head a little to hear her better. “.…I was wonderi--“
