Jason

I was impatient, it had three hours since Jessie and Chase left, and I could not stop moving. Luke groaned into the cereal he was eating, "Jeez dude calm down, they'll be here"

I cocked my legs onto the table so as to stop shaking it, "I know, I know, but fuck it's been three hours"

That's when we heard the front door creak and instinctively, I reached for the gun on the table next to me and shared a glance with Luke. He was of the chair, his body alert. I nodded to him as I trained the gun towards the door. My mouth dropped as the mahogany door opened revealing Jessie and Chase, but that's not what horrified me, it was the blood seeping through her shirt. I immediately went into protective mode and reached for her. The moment she saw us, her expression twisted into confusion, "Dude, it's just us"

"What the ever-loving fuck happened?" I demanded as I supported her weight and carried her over to the dining table. She groaned in pain before lifting up her shirt. On her abdomen was a horrible purplish gash. I cringed when I saw it, not because I was disgusted, but because I was concerned about how painful it must've been.

"Omega's men found us", Chase muttered, "Son of a bitch shot her"

My hands fisted at my side at the thought of someone shooting Jessie. Luke thoughtfully reached for Jessie, his fingers tracing but not exactly touching the cut. He was in business mode, "Jason, get the first aid kit. Kitchen cabin on the right", he ordered. I obliged, getting the first aid kit, and tossing it to him. "Can you take of your shirt?", he asked Jessie, his voice soft. She nodded, her eyes flickering to mine for a brief second before she reached down and pulled her shirt off her body. She was beautiful, but I tried my best to not stare at her half-naked body as Luke took care of the wound.

"How did you get away?", I asked Chase, trying to distract myself.

His face looked stricken with guilt as he stared at his feet. I walked up to him and placed my hand on his shoulder, "Chase come on brother, it's okay. It was not your fault"

His shoulders slumped as he looked away from me, "No man, two people I loved god shot in two fucking days and I did nothing! I couldn't save mom-"

He was cut off by Jessie, "Chase Andrew Parker, you fucking listen to me!"

He flinched at the use of his middle name and turned to meet her eyes as she glowered at him, "It was not your fucking fault! If anything, you saved me!"

"How Jess? If I did save you, you shouldn't have got hurt in the first place!"

She shook her head, smiling softly, "It doesn't matter Chase, it was just a small graze, I'm fine"

"Are you?"

She smiled again, this time more confidently, "Yes, Yes I am"

A heart wrenching feeling of love and affection for Jessie swept through me like a way. No one could boost up your day like she did, and you did not want to argue with when she was sure about something.
