.
Nero Crow hated this part of his job the most. The actual job part.
He had lived through and survived both the first and second great fall , so he understood why it had to be done.
But they didn't know that.
The humans who they now had at gunpoint who were hovering together in fear, didn't know anything.
"Matron Mary back away! I'll fight him off!" A young man with brown slicked back hair proclaimed throwing his palms out and summoning light to them.
He was a magi and a not very skilled one. Of course none of them would be.
This settlement was a small one judging by the way the people looked to the Magi With The way the Magi themselves and the women he had seen were dressed he could guess this was one of the infamous cults known as the "Church of the Human Order." No other human settlements but the super religious cult types would bother to keep so much white fabric and throw in the effort to keep in that way. Everyone else had a little more sense . Even the monster worshipers had sense enough to wear darker clothes.
He supposed at least if he was ordered to capture and enslave humans , at least they were crazy cultist.
He raised his rifle to the Magi's face and the group of what must be the leaders and elders flinched including the magi summoning the light. His light flickered slightly but he continued to summon it.
Not that it would do him much good , not against a vampire in full day walker body armor. The whole suit was strong and warded with so many magic spells if this human even tried to strike him with his mana he would find it quickly being eaten away.
"I'm with the city of Nocturne you and your people will need to surrender peacefully or face death."
His voice was louder coming out of the helmets speaker then he was actually talking. He hated how electric his voice sounded with it on but it did add a bit of intimidation factor for the humans. He had tried friendlier threats in the past but terrifying them always worked better. The more efficiant he was at his job the sooner he could go back home.
Still, It really was a shame they couldn't leave humans in peace. Alas with the ghouls constantly converting humans to their numbers there was no real way to eradicate them until all humans were under vampire surveillance and control. It was such irony since humans were responsible for the ghouls anyway.
The young human didn't listen though and readied to throw his magic at him.
Nero shot him in the arm and the man instantly screamed out his blood splattering the elderly woman behind him as the bullet nearly grazed her face. The blood seemed to cling to her thin wrinkled skin as she widened her eyes in horror and shrieked.
It wouldn't have hit the old lady. He had perfect aim. That's what happened when you had century's to hone a skill.
The kid sobbing his eyes out and gripping his arm.
