When Nero saw the girl being threatened with a gun he had acted instinctively. He has seen how far these cultist nuns were willing to go and there was no hesitation.

He simply moved quickly into position, charge cocked the gun, and took aim.

The crack of the woman's skull being pierced by a bullet and the thump of the woman's body falling to the ground as easy to ignore as he saw the hot red blood splatter across the girl on the floor.

The raven-haired girl who's life he had saved was now slumped on the floor too weak from the realization that she wasn't dead.

She would be alright.

The other girl though...

She had glittering blonde wavy hair that reminded him of desert sand dunes and a blank expression with fawn eyes that looked at him as if he was a question she couldn't work out. Her skin looked as pale as any vampires as her blood flow seemed to come of a halt. She stepped closer and closer to them her head slightly tilted and eyebrows furrowed.

Jake said some offhand stupid remark that Nero ignored completely as he focused on the girl.

His grip tightened on his gun instinctively in case it was a trap to take him off guard, or maybe she had been infected.

When she was only a couple of feet away she stopped. Everything stopped. Her breathing, her standing, and the light from her fawn eyes.

Shock.

Shock was bad.

"Damn there goes one," Jake said hissing.

Nero knelt down next to the girl. No signs of life. He squinted at the window and analyzed the room. The enclosed tiny rooms would be perfect and away from the sun, but the risk of being locked in was too great. The stairwell was a better choice.

"Call for backup I'll handle the girl." He quickly picked up the girl careful to keep her legs more elevated than the rest of her. He didn't waste any time rushing to the stairwell as he heard her heart slow.

"Your serious?!"

Nero ignored Jake quickly sprinting around furniture and kicking the door open to the dark passage.

Nero gently placed the girl down on the ground on the side balcony that looked down the stairs and removed his helmet placing it beside him relived the room was dark enough.

She had already stopped breathing by this time so he went to work checking her airway, keeping her head flat against the ground and propping her legs up with the bottom railing of the balcony. It wasn't quite twelve inches but it was better than nothing. He tore off the front of her dress and positioned one hand on the other.

Nero quickly performed CPR.

Her mouth was soft and warm with the smell and taste of the sweet-salty blood that lingered on what was left of her clothes in a way that threatened to make his fangs ache. The quick surprise of it was something he quickly pushed down as he began compressions on her chest and counting before he blew air into her lungs.
