once again, I put in no effort in this 😊

Richie finally gained courage throughout the 3 weeks he had before prom. Today is the day, he's going to ask Eddie to prom.

✿

" Hey, Richie, what's up? " Beverly smiled. " Hey... so... how it is with Ben? " he asked. " It's not that bad. " she admitted. " That's great to hear. " he replied. " Just one more week and it's prom! " the red-head beamed. " So, who you're asking? " she asked. " I didn't ask anyone as yet...but I'm planning to... " he murmured.

" Richard! " a voice yelled. Richie quickly snapped out of his trance and met eyes with his teacher's. " This is the fifth time you zoned out on me! " his teacher shouted. " Oh... uh... I...
uhm... sorry. " he stammered out. The teacher sighed and walked back to the whiteboard. " Okay, class, back to what I was saying- "

" Richie, over here! " Eddie waved the curly-haired boy over. " What's up? " the brunette anxiously asked. " Why you're so excited? " Richie asked. " Oh─ I'm so eager for prom! " the brunette exclaimed. " Did anyone asked you out as yet? " Richie asked. " No... but I hope I do... " Eddie murmured. Richie chose this as an opportunity to ask the brunette. " Hey Eddie, I was wondering if you'll like to─ " " Eddie, you won't believe what happened! " Stanley interrupted.

Richie groans and crosses his arms. " Yeah, what happened? " Eddie asked curiously. " Hey─  Stan, you mind if I could get a chance to talk to eds? " Richie asked. " Fine, only a minute, I really need to tell Eddie about it. " the Jewish said impatiently. " Yeah, yeah. " Richie rolled his eyes. " I need to talk to Eddie in private. " Richie said. " Are you going to kill him or something? " Stanley scoffs. " No, I just... need to talk to him in private. "

" Why we're doing in the library? " the brunette asks. " I need to ask you something. " Richie replied. " Mhm? " Eddie hummed. " Eddie, will... you...you go to prom with me...? " Richie falters. " I wasn't really expecting you to ask me out... but sure. " Eddie smiled. " Wait... really? " Richie said in disbelief. " Yeah, I don't mind going with a friend. " the brunette grinned. " Oh right... he sees me as a friend... " Richie said in his thoughts. " Yeah... as friends... " he forces a smile. " You could go meet Stanley now. " he shoos the brunette out of the library. " Wait─ " before Eddie could say anything Richie was already gone.

Richie ignored all the knocks coming from the locked door, of the boys' bathroom. He was in there for 5 hours. He was a sobbing mess, tears was soaking his shirt, his eyes were puffy and red. He kept crying until his eyes can't produce any more tears. " Why is... i-it so ha-hard... to just... b-be your friend... " he croaked out.
