A Year later

Eliza got out of bed and got changed into her clothes for the day after she heard her phone going off telling her it was time to go to school. She got down the stairs to make breakfast before school.

“Where’s my breakfast?” said Eliza.

Her brother and sister scatter from the kitchen as she is now very irritated and in a hurry to get to school, even though she doesn’t like going to school. She's walking out the door as she says good bye to her family and then rushes off down the side walk with her friend.

Jerold says, “So how was it this morning trying to get up from having a long break for summer vacation and not having to deal with your younger siblings being a pain?”

Eliza replies, “It was extremely hard to get up this morning, but this year is going to be different, I hope.”

Jerold asks, “How was your summer vacation?”

“It was bearable; we didn’t do much, though I do say that we did have a lot of fun at the lake. We caught a lot of fish and went camping because we stayed there so late. It was a little creepy to hear some strange noise in the middle of the night. We couldn’t figure out what it was and we still to this day don’t know what it was. Hay, guess what?” said Eliza

“What?”replied Jerold

“I finally got my powers to be stronger over the vacation and I haven’t told anyone in my family yet. I am kind of scared to hear what they are going to say when I tell them what I can do. They may have all gotten one at some point but it’s still scary when you know you could put the people you love in danger because of the gift.” said Eliza

“Well, if you ever need someone to talk to about your gift, you can always come and talk to me or anyone of my parents because I’m sure they won’t mind. It’s not like we don’t already consider you as family with as much as you come over and all.” Said Jerold

They both made it to school on time even though none of the teachers are marking anybody late for the whole first week of school. They perused right on through each class listening to teachers give the same old lecture about class rules, where everything was, what they needed for that class, and what major projects they were going to do this year. The bell went off signaling it was time for lunch as the kids went and got in line or went off campus.

Eliza said, “Why is it I always get in a line that is super long and I don’t have anyone to stand here to talk with. I also dislike how kids these days think it is okay to just cut. If I was in charge I would make it so where kids wouldn’t act so immature in line. I just want to get my lunch and go sit with my friends to eat etc., and then get the rest of the day over with so I can go home to my pets.”

Jerold walks up and asks how her day is going as she is waiting in line. They walk to their lunch spot near the tree that they always sit under and eat their lunch. It’s just her and him today because the rest of their friends are at their club waiting to find out what they are going to do. Jerold and Eliza just talked about the weather and what they thought of their teachers so far.

They talked about all kinds of other stuff and finished their lunch. After they threw their trash away in the proper dispensers they went for a walk around the campus till the bell rang.

Eliza was so tired by the time the bell rang to go home that she just wanted to crash right there, but then she remember that she had her gift and that there still was that hole in the middle of the school. She ran there hoping it hadn’t changed and sure enough it was gone. She got kind of worried cause she didn’t know where it had gone, if it was gone for good, or if it would show up somewhere else out of the blue. She just calmed herself down and decided it wasn’t something to get so worried about since she couldn’t do anything about it now, with not knowing where it was. She decided to go meet Jerold to go home.

Jerold: “What took you so long? You usually beat me here to our meeting spot.”

Eliza: “You promise not to tell anyone?”

“Yes I promise, why? What’s up?” said Jerold

“I was checking to see if that colorful hole was still there in the middle of the school.” Said Eliza

Jerold said, “What! I didn’t see any colorful hole when we came on campus.”

“Are you sure; I wonder if I’m the only one who can see it or if maybe it had disappeared before then.” Said Eliza

“It might have. Should we stop somewhere before we go pick up your siblings? ” asked Jerold

“Sure, where do you want to stop? There are only a couple of places between our school and their middle school.” Replied Eliza

“I think we shall stop at Jay Jay’s and get a milk shake or we could stop at the 7eleven and get a drink. I can’t quite decide.” Said Jerold

“How about we go to the 7eleven?  They have more of a variety to choose from than the other one.” Said Eliza

“Okay. 7eleven it is.” Said Jerold

They went to the 7eleven and quickly got what they were going to get and headed home after getting the siblings. Jerold always hangs out at her house to do homework together and to talk about things like the rest of their day and their families. They hid up in her room that had been made so that she didn’t have to share with her sister anymore. She is so happy about having her own room because her sister makes such big messes that it’s almost like a natural disaster happened in just her room.
