THREE

Lea instructs her students to designate a class representative per batch who will coordinate with her and the other professors. She asks one of her senior students, Celestine Gonzales, who also happens to be the Student Council President, to facilitate it and asks to meet the class representatives when they are chosen.

"I will be counting on you to relay the information I will send you to your classmates," she tells them once they are convened. She's given them her work number, telling them to keep it and asking for their contact details as well. There are about 12 people in the room, including herself, and she looks at the faces surrounding her, trying to memorize their faces. "I will coordinate with you regarding any class matters. Your other professors will be contacting you as well, for any updates or any cancellation of classes, mostly." She smirks. "I'm sure yun ang pinakaabangan nyo."

Everyone laughs at her joke, and she shakes her head.

"But, I implore you to be discreet with your use din of the numbers. I don't have to remind you na 'di nyo kami textmate, professors nyo kami. Be polite, and be mindful of your language. Consider this your warning, anyway," she adds, the memories of being bombarded with text messages by her students passing through her mind. Sometimes, people forget the boundaries just because they're not explicitly told, and she's not keen to see that happen again.

"Yes Attorney," Celestine answers with a nod, and the rest of the representatives agree.

She smiles, relaxing in her seat and leaning back. "So kamusta naman your first few weeks?" she asks them, but her eyes are on the first year representatives. "First years? Naka-adjust naman na ba kayo?"

"We're eating, breathing, and living law school na po Attorney," one of the first year representatives replies - a reminder of her first few words to them.

"Talaga lang ha? Pa-recite ko kaya yung modifying circumstances bukas sa Crim 1?" she says in playful ribbing, laughing when her student visibly blanches at the thought. Her students from the higher years laugh too. "Joke lang, baka himatayin kayo. Next week nalang."

Still, it's a joke, and everyone laughs, making her smirk wider.

"How about your section?" she asks the other first-year representative. There are three first-year sections this year, but she anticipates that it will dwindle down to two by the next semester or next year. It always happens - a high influx of first-year students, but the number goes down as the years progress. Some find the journey too difficult, some opt for another path.
