Street lamps were the only thing lighting up the pathway due to the dark night sky that looked over us as we stood outside of the brick building.
We were currently standing outside of the club, waiting for Dan to tie his shoes so we could go in. The music was loud, the beats and washed out lyrics already easily heard.
"Dan, can you hurry up? We're fucking freezing." Mia wrapped her arms around her, rubbing to find some sort of warmth as the cold air surrounded us.
She was wearing a short black dress that hugged her curves perfectly, curves that I did not have, so obviously she was freezing. However I wasn't urging to get inside because I was wearing a white sleeved shirt that was tucked into my black, leather skirt that stopped at the middle of my thighs.
I was not rushing to get inside, not only because of me not being as cold as her, but because I didn't really want to go in the first place but Mia insisted that we should celebrate because it was a 'special occasion'. Of course I was excited about being promoted and getting a new position at the publishing company but this was not what I had in mind at all.
Dan finally stood up and Mia sighed in relief" Thank God, I thought I was gonna freeze to death." She laughs and Dan wraps his arm around her, slinging it over her shoulder as they enter the club with me following behind.
As soon as we stepped into the building colourful strobe lights flickered around the room, spotlighting the sea of people who were dancing on the dance floor.
The loud music instantly hit my ears, the recognisable tune of Snap out of it by The Arctic Monkeys and its beats vibrate through the floor.
Everyone was enjoying themselves, even those who didn't seem to be intoxicated quite yet and those who definitely were already. The big crowd of people on the dance floor mixed together as women swayed their hips and men followed along.
The dance floor was placed in the middle of the room with various tables and chairs occupied by people that were separated between the barriers that stopped those who danced and those who sat from intertwining.
A bar stood at the back of the room with only a few people sat on the stools as a bartender stood behind it, making cocktails filled with different liquids.
I bit my lip nervously as this was not an environment I was used to, anticipating what the rest of my night would look like once I have stepped into the building.
Mia and Dan have been here before though; it's actually how they met. I find their relationship to be endearing and sweet as the two have been together for two years and they've had their issues which were quickly resolved by their loving desires for each other.
The couple walked passed the dance floor and to an empty booth and sat down next to each other while I, the third wheeler, sat opposite them by myself. The booth was comfy despite being slightly tattered with rips and tears in its material.
I bit the inside of my check as I looked around me noticing the people who danced with great confidence, confidence I do not have. I'm not extremely socially awkward or anything,I'm just not used to being in these kind of places as I'd rather be at home and cuddling, Dexter, my cat
"Stop overthinking it, you'll have fun." Mia notices my nervous habit of biting my cheek." You just need a bit of alcohol in your system." She smirks.
"I don't know."I shake my head. Last time I came to a club was also my last time when I was celebrating my 18th birthday and I was feeling adventurous so I decided to go to a club. I got absolutely face-smashed drunk with my old university friends and barely made it back to my dorm.
