A man walks in ashamed. Hands cuffed behind his back into the court room. On his way in, he spots his mother and father looking at him with disgust. Everyone was. He sits down at his spot by his lawyer. The room had a very tense atmosphere to it. One that he never thought be aimed towards him .
"We're not winning this case, huh?" He asks looking at his lawyer. She ignores him. He doesn't mind as most his life he's been ignored. Not only by classmates in his school, but, his own family. Now that's what I call an epic fail.
"All rise. Department One of the Superior Court is now in session.Judge Alana Brevig presiding. Please be seated."The bailiff says strongly. Soon the judge walks into the court room. The judge looked like she was wearing an entire bottle of eyeliner. She looked somewhat like a drag queen with her deeply contoured cheeks. When she got to her bench she was barely visible because of her short figure.
The judge looks around the room and begins to say, " Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Calling the case of the Pinkstaff family versus Ryan Adars. Are both sides ready?".
"Ready for the People, Your Honor," the District Attorney says proudly.
"Ready for the Defense, Your Honor," the Publix Defender says coldly.
The judge nods and asks, " Will the clerk please swear in jury?"
"Will the jury please stand and raise your right hand?'The clerk waits for everyone to stand, "Do each of you swear that you will fairly try the case before this court, and that you will return a true verdict according to the evidence and the instructions of the court, so help you, God? Please say I do". Soon the court is field with people agreeing to the terms. However, the sad reality is that a majority of the people in this jury will end up deciding by their emotions rather and logic.
"You may all seat down," the clerk states meaning that the verbal terms of policy was over. The entire court looked like they did not want to be in the room. You can't exactly blame them. After all, jury duties are boring, and it's not everyone's ideal place to go to instead of work.
"Mr. Garner, what was your relationship to the victim... Mrs.Pinkstaff?" The judge asks. You gulp and begin to sweat. There was no way anyone would believe that you were telling the truth. The visions of that day return. Suddenly Ryan is standing in the local clothing store he applied for. He begins to slowly walk around the store. Suddenly he hears a loud bang coming from the manager's office. Cold sweat comes over him knowing what will happen next. He quickly runs to the store exit only to realize it's locked. Like a scene out of a horror movie, a door behind Ryan opens with a prolonged squeakiness . He look behind your shoulder to find Mrs.Pinkstaff's door wide open, and blood pouring out of her office. He walk into the ro-
"Mr.Adars?" The judge asks reeling you back into the present. When you lock eyes with her she seemed very sincere and kind.
"She was my manager" Ryan says nervously.
"What were you doing at the store when it was closed?" She asks while jotting furiously in her notebook.
"She was going to be gone so she requested that I come over and grab the keys to let the other workers in, " he said truthfully.
"Is anyone from the Pinkstaff family aware of this statement?" The judge asks eagerly. A man who was standing and shaking head glared at me. The judge begins to write some more things down and turns to me.
"I have evidence that you forcefully broke into the store. How would you justify that?" She asks boldly.
"I heard a gun shot... I needed to make sure she was okay." he says with a long pause.
"Mr.Adars... the store footage shows no one was in the store aside from you-
"I didn't kill her! There is no evidence that I killed her! I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time'. I could feel tears forming in my eyes, 'I swear". The crowd goes quiet, everyone waiting to see what the judge would say in response to a teenager having a mental breakdown. The judge begins to look through the papers on her desks then looks back at Ryan.
"I think that is enough questionnaire. Mr.Adar, I hereby account you guilty of the murder of Mrs. Pinkstaff." The judge says while hitting the gavel upon the desk. Through the TV, your friends laugh at the statement of Ryan Adar. But you still hold your suspensions.
