The b-day had finally come. I was finally becoming a senior. It meant so much to me because I saw it as a way to start afresh, and leave all my goofy junior years behind me and have a new beginning.
Without my Marshmellow Colours alarm needing to ring, I had already woken up. I had brushed my teeth, taken my bath, put on my dazzling red uniform with my well fitted blazer, and was ready to hit the streets to Clever High.
"I just wished Dad was around to see how fresh I looked", but he was always off to work very early so it couldn't be helped.So I took my bicycle and left home.
As I got to the Gates of Clever High, my childhood friends Joshua, Sebastian and Stephanie were already there waiting for me.
With joy in my eyes,I parked my bicycle and ran to embrace them, " Josh, Sebastian, Steph; it's so good to see you." I said giving each of them faint hugs.
"Yeah Dave, you're late. I had even thought you fell off your bic and injured yourself again", Joshua said while laughing and holding my shoulder like I was his kid.
"Good one bro!" Sebastian laughed out loud with his weird laughter that sounded like Denver's in Money heist (one of our best series) with no remorse for the people around.
Stephanie then pinched his hand to get him under control with her devilish nails" Stop laughing!"
"Ouch!! That's gat to be painful."
I and Josh both exclaimed due to our similar experiences with Stephanie.
We all then stopped for a sec and burst into laughter.
"I guess none of us have changed" I said with a smile on my face.
" Agreed!"
Josh was still the cool,funny and smart kid I knew since 3, Sebastian the lousy but surprisingly smart kid I met at junior school and Stephanie was still the perfectionist I've always known her to be.
I was so glad they were still the awesome friends I knew them to be. But I just wished Sebastian could change his laugh. It was just too annoying and funny at the same time.
After we had finished our reunion, we walked through the school doors together with our minds shut to the stares of others. Like it was just we against the rest of the world.
.........."Who would have known that those steps would lead us to the end of our so called 'new beginnings'."
