It started with a look...
Five years ago, I stood by the door of my classroom when I noticed her walking down the hallway, anxiously trying to talk to random students. I watched her approach one person after another, and then our eyes met. With that look in her eyes as if she had finally found the right person to talk to, she approached me like she knew me.
"Hello, my name is Kiyoko Shimizu, I am the 3rd year manager for the Karasuno Men's Volleyball team, and I was wondering..."
Everything around me seemed to all go by in a blur, like I was being hypnotized by her. All I could see was her face, her lit up eyes, her moving lips, her long black hair, her flawless skin; she even smelled good. I glance around and people are staring, rightfully so, who is this fortunate mortal and why is this goddess talking to her?
"So, are you interested?" I finally snap out of the trance.
I didn't catch most of what she said, but I knew right then and there I needed to see her again.
"Y-Yes." I stutter. Her eyes lit up, she clasped her hands in mine and said "You would!? That's great! In that case, I'll come back later!" and she was off in flash.
I stood there, probably still entranced. I still felt her hands holding mine, her hands were soft and fragrant. I felt my body temperature rise, what was this feeling? Am I having a fever? I've never felt this way before.
I was startled by the bell, it was time for my next class.

I was finally able to find someone willing to at least try and become our new manager. Though she seemed to be the anxious type, but I'm sure she'll get by.
The rest of the day went by in a blur, I had already told Sugawara-kun I had good news for the whole team and he was thrilled to find out what it is. Dismissal time came around, I went to fetch that girl from the 2nd floor, and we walked together to the volleyball gym.
We walked in silence, she was walking a good few steps behind me, clearly really shy. I should start to get to know her.
"What's your name?" I heard a soft gasp, did I startle her?
"Y-y-y..." Y-y-y?
"YACHI HITOKA, MA'AM! 16, FIRST YEAR, M-MA'AM!!" she blurted out, and did she just call me ma'am?
I giggled, she seems to be a nervous wreck. "You don't have to be so intimidated by me, Hitoka-chan.", she looked up, and she looked more or less like a lost puppy.
"Sports. Men. Men's sports... Volleyball... They must be huge..." she whispered.
"Oh, you don't have to be scared of the guys, either. They're actually very warm and sweet sometimes, but most of the time, they're idiots." I laughed.
As we approach the volleyball court, we could hear the boys already start their training, we could hear their loud voices and the sound of them smashing volleyballs. I suddenly felt Hitoka stop dead in her tracks, shivering.
"They sound like giants..." she choked on her own saliva.
"It will be fine, you're gonna like them. I promise." I smiled and placed a reassuring hand on her back and gently motioned for her to keep walking. We entered the gym, and everyone gathered around to meet their new recruit manager.

I was more than glad that it was finally over. Big, scary, tall men. Especially that old player, what was his name again? A-Asahi? Like the appliances? Maybe they owned that company and named it after him. Or maybe-- he's the next to inherit that company and that's why he's slacking off in school... No how could I be so quick to judge? However I did notice that short orange haired boy and the one with the bleached bangs, were they advanced middle school trainees for when they would go to high school? NO, I'M BEING SO JUDGEMENTAL AGAIN.
It was time for me to go home.

Practice was finally over and I was finally home.
I checked my phone for any updates and I remembered I needed to save Hitoka's email so I could easily reach her.
"Hi-to-ka- chan..." was her name on my contacts. I decided to send her a text.
"Hitoka-chan, good evening. Its me, Shimizu. Please save my contact, thanks." *sent*
I put down my phone and stared at the ceiling. A new manager, huh? Someone to finally carry on my legacy as Karasuno's overseer. I am truly glad she said yes. When I saw her this morning, we sort of had this telepathic communication and I knew right then and there that she was the right one. I was startled by my phone pinging. It was Hitoka-chan.
"Yes!!! Good evening!! No problem!!" was her reply.
I just find her attitude so adorable. Her shy and anxious nature will only get her so far, aside from guiding her and showing her the ropes, I have to stand by her side until she can manage on her own. I guess it would be a good idea to have her comfortable with me.
"So did the boys give you a good impression?" *sent*
Almost immediately, she responded with "They were extremely scary!! Especially the samurai man!! He looked so brooding and scary!!" This made me laugh out loud. Poor Asahi, he's always been thought by strangers to be some sort of wild teenager, but he's actually so soft.
We carried on texting each other without realizing it was already so late at night. It was truly pleasant talking with Hitoka-chan, she is such a sweet ball of sunshine.

I had to make sure I respond to every message Kiyoko-senpai sent me or she might strike me with the divine retribution being the goddess that she is. But, soon enough I was getting comfortable with exchanging texts with her. It made me feel really good inside, knowing she was just as interested in talking to me as I was to her.
I slept that night feeling happy inside, morning quickly rolled in and it was another day.
