What to Wear?

I love spring, snow melts, flower blooms and every thing is fine and dandy. And this year will be the same as every year.

"Are you up?" Gosh if mom yelled any louder the neighbours would wake up, the Merryweathers two old grouchy sisters. But as always I get up and grunt loud enough she can here me, then hobble over to my dresser and get changed.

After I step on my sister's toys and fall down the stairs, I have my wholesome breakfast of cornflakes (with enough corn syrup to flood a small village) and chocolate milk. By then mom's packed my lunch and my little sister's ready to be walked to school. So we set off.

************

We get to the public school in 5 minutes, my sister chatting the whole way. Then I wave and start my 20 minute walk to the high school. I got a offer to take a bus but then I wouldn't be able to walk Calypso to school, and my sister's sad face could make a terminator short-circuit, so, I walk.

At school I wasn't hated but I wasn't loved, I was that wonderful middle ground. First period today was math I'm fine with it, I'm rather smart.

The only problem is Mr. Beket.
We all call him Mr. Bucket, he's the teacher that looks at you like he found you on the bottom of his shoe.

**************

"Tanner!" I just kept walking, I knew that Big Bert would lose interest. "Ya you keep running!"

I shout back "Actually I'm going at a moderately slow pace, Berty."

"TANNER! I'll kick your but a P.E." But as always I just keep walking, satisfied he doesn't know my schedule because I don't have gym today.

When I get to the class I sneak in the door at the back and sit down. As always no one sees me if it's dim lighting and I stay near the wall no one ever notices me. I also have rather acute senses, so I heard Ken tell his little group that we had a supply from across the room.

I heard the doors swing open and heels clipping but I was focused on my sheet. So it was quite a surprise when a stern female voice snapped me to reality.

"May you please join the class and look at the front Mr. Bunda"
I snapped to attention shocked she noticed me, but that wasn't my biggest shock I looked up to see one of the Merryweather sisters, my mean old neighbours.

"Mrs. Merryweather?" A look of alarm passed over her face then my elbow partner jabbed me.

"It's Mrs. Magnolia Tanner." And when I looked back its an old English lady but it's not Mrs. Merryweather.

"Sorry Mrs. Magnolia, you look like another supply teacher I know." But if I concentrate her face ripples and I see a glimpse of Mrs. Merryweather. Then she looks at me and breaks my concentration.

***************

Class passes in a flash and before I know it it's lunch. During lunch
Mrs. Magnolia/Merryweather pulled me out of the cafeteria.

"Tanner will you come to my class please?" Her face rippled then settled clear on Mrs. Merryweather.

"Mrs. Magnolia I finished my math."

"How do you know who I am? I am a solar, I'm manipulating the influence. How can you still see Mrs.Merryweather? Are you a dark?" She paused thinking then with cat like reflexes, grabbed my wrist. "Are you marked?"

At that moment my wrist burst with pain like a coin was being burnt into my bones. I ripped my wrist from her and ran.

I ran straight it Ken. "Whoa, where's the fire?"

I gasp through the pain "Mrs. Mongolia."

"Who?"

"The old grouchy supply teacher."

Kent gave me a weird look. "Mrs. Smith, about 32 and we had her for math. Dude I think somethings wrong with you this morning."

At that moment I was hit with a wall of pain.I thunked down and looked at my wrist, I saw a black tattoo moving on my arm. A lily slowly bloomed and in it was a scale in front of the sun and moon.

Mrs. Merryweather caught up to me looked at the tattoo alarmed then said "Darling you have to come with me."
I unceremoniously blacked out.
