In the Beginning

"From the beginning" she said I looked around the hospital room the soft beeping of machines at work filling my brain the sound blocked out by now I was told that I have been here for weeks even months. The lady tapped on my shoulder again I don't quite remember her name my eyes flickered to her name tag and I mumbled softly, "doctor yeim" she noticed and I noticed she noticed and blushed looking away but once again she said in this stern voice "start from the beginning" I really don't know what this woman is talking about one day I just woke up here it felt like a simulation almost like I was in a game "I don't know..." I said in an almost whisper it's true I don't remember anything I just know what they told me I am 16 and my name is Lainey and I'll be going home to my family soon but then again they said that a month ago I'm excited to meet these new people but kind of nervous as well. The doctor sighed and stood and the same as always she simply said in that same monotone voice "we'll continue this tomorrow" before walking out of the room leaving me to my deafening thoughts. I thought about my name again "Lainey" I said out loud again and again before noticing a nurse outside the door my favorite person here, I smiled at her and waved and she waved back bringing in all these medications I'm required to take everyday I sighed and groaned as I turned towards her preparing very the large array of colorful pills I was about to shovel into my mouth. The nurse stood there as usual smiling and I noticed something new on her hand a ring and my eyes widened in happiness for her and she smiled letting out that same small giggle when I get excited over something and she nodded knowing what I was thinking. I've been here for nine months they told me and this woman is the only one I've become friends with her name is Autumn and she is really pretty and quite young she's in her 20s. I yawned all this thinking all the time is making me tired although I'd rather think then speak I suppose Autumn then left with the cart and left me alone she flicked the lights off in the room for me and I then curled up in the hospital bed as usual and got comfortable curling up into a deep sleep. "No, no, no!" I yelled in my dream chasing after this frail woman with hair about to her shoulders "come back!" I screamed running as fast as I can after her she stopped at the ledge of a cliff and just began to fade away. I sit up quickly noticing I'm in the room the sun dimly pouring through the curtains and the same soft beeping sound and I sigh talking out loud to myself "atleast somewhere I'm familiar with" I sighed softly rubbing my eyes again "I wonder who that woman was and why she is in my dreams all the time" I whispered shrugging as I was hungry looking at the clock 5:30 pm it shown blinking repeatedly. I was a pretty small girl with frail bones and brown hair down to my ankles. I held onto my IV post and began walking the hospital gown dragging around my feet as I slowly made my way to the cafeteria. Sneaking in I made my way to the table I was designated to 1st floor monitoring. I was the only one at this table so I kind of got used to it. Autumn brought me my food as everyday the doctors said I shouldn't do it I could be injured so Autumn waits in line for me everyday to bring me the same meal the only meal I'll eat at this time meatloaf and toasted garlic bread. Autumn also sat with me everyday, everyone else always thought I was weird I could tell because I'm the only one on this level but it's fine atleast I have Autumn.

I'm sorry that this chapter is kind of  short it is my first time writing a book like this but its really fun so far so I hope you guys like it again I'm not good at this so I didn't really know where to leave the book off but if you have any suggestions leave them in the comments thanks for reading this
