It was just another ordinary day for the West Family.
Where they are on a helicopter to take photos of buildings of the town of Willamette, Colorado for their next journal.
It's been almost a year since Marinette... or Marilyn has been living with the West family. She has grown very close to them more than was with the people that she, now used to know back in Paris. Especially from one time she let the Wests meet the kwamis after she met Evelyn and Amberlynn's 'spirit companions', Sylveon and Vaporeon.
While the Wests were taking pictures, the pilot, Ed DeLuca, starts talking to them, "Hey, gang... one of you mentioned somethin' about research for a story." "That's right," Frank said as he and the girls continued on taking pictures. "We got a tip that something big's happening." "In a nowhere little town like that? They sure didn't mention anything about it on TV..." "Yeah, well we're freelance, mister," Evelyn said. "We don't make our living withing for the TV to tell us what to cover." Ed laughs a bit as Evelyn said it to him.
"Here she is!" Ed said." "Willamette, Colorado. Population: 53,594. Distinguishing characteristics: Jack shit!" Ed laughed, Marilyn smiled, not minding Ed's weird comments, Evelyn and Amberlynn rolled their eyes at the same time, and Frank shook his head a bit. "About the only thing to do in this town is kill time at the shopping mall," Ed added.
Frank and Marilyn zoomed in their cameras, taking pictures of a group of people that are blocking the bridge.
Ed noticed and was both shocked and surprised at the same time. "What was that? The army?" he asked. Marilyn shrugged while Frank said, "Looks like taking a helicopter was the way to go." "I bet they've got all the roads off by now," Marilyn said.
"Alright, listen, we wanna get shots of the whole town before the National Guard finishes roping it off. Take us over to the main street." Marilyn said. Ed gave her a thumbs up and takes the Wests to the location they want to go to.
While Ed was flying them to the main street, the Wests continue on taking pictures on what's happening and why the army is there blocking all the roads. While they did, they see some cars that were already crashed. "Whoa! What is that, some kinda riot?" Ed asked. Frank took a picture to three people. One dead, while the other two are eating him alive. Marilyn takes a picture to see someone on top of the car while some people are surrounding him. "Is this what you guys came to take pictures of?" "Sure is," Evelyn questioned while they continued taking pictures of what's going on.
"No way! Check that out! Look at all those people!" Ed exclaimed. "What the hell's happening here?" "I have no idea. But one thing's for sure... whatever's going on down there, it's not business as usual in this town." 'Yeah, and this is weird. And no way Hawkmoth nor Mayura are responsible for making this happen.' Tikki thought while she was hiding in Marilyn's bag. Sylveon and Vaporeon were scared too as they hid in Evelyn's jacket pocket and Amberlynn's mini purse.
After a while, an explosion suddenly happens at a gas station. "Holy shit! Did you see that?!" Ed said shocked from what he saw. "Is that even a question?" Amberlynn said as she takes a picture of it. "I gotta take her up for a sec," Ed said having the helicopter up. The West family continued on looking around and take pictures of what's going on. Then, Frank notices something going on at a building. "Ed, take us down! We have to check out that building!" he exclaimed. "Where?" Ed asked. "Right below us!"
The girls took pictures of the woman fighting some people until the woman and the other two people who were after her fell and died. "I want to see the center of the town. Take us there." Frank said. "Roger," Ed said.
While they are heading over to the center and still taking pictures, they zoomed in their cameras to see a lot of people at the Willamette mall. 'Is there a big sale at some stores in there?' Marilyn thought curious to see why a lot of people are going into the mall. Then she notices the helipad on top of the mall's roof. "Ed! Can you get us on the rooftop of that mall?" she asks. Frank, Evelyn, Amberlynn, Tikki, Sylveon, and Vaporeon know where she's getting at while Ed looks at her like she was the gender-bend version of the Joker. "You gotta be kiddin' me!" he exclaimed. Then he gave in and sighed. "Man, you guys are nuts." "Alright, listen. Don't forget to come back for us!" Frank said. "As long as you and your kids aren't dead, Fred." "It's Frank... Frank West." 'Yeah, and haven't I been through enough puns from that crazy alley cat, Chat Noir?' Marilyn thought unamused from that pun Ed made. "Remember that name, cause the whole world's gonna know it in three days. When my kids and I get the scoop." "Alright," Ed said.
Suddenly, another helicopter came out of nowhere and Ed tries to avoid it and the other two helicopters that are now chasing them. "Quick, Ed! Get us down to that rooftop!" Amberlynn said. "I know I'm getting my ass chewed out for this one. We're going down!" Ed said as he gets to the helipad. The West family jumps out of the helicopter safely with no injuries.
As they watch Ed leave while the other helicopters still chasing him and the West family dust themselves off, they hear a new voice that is not Ed's. "Hello there," they turn to see a new person that they've never seen before. "You four are reporters, aren't you?" the man asks as they walk to him. "Yeah. We're freelances." Evelyn said getting the bangs off the left side of her face. "You know, go into the battlefield, just the four of us, no crew to help." "Sir, can you please tell us what's going on around here?" Marilyn asks. "You four came by helicopter, didn't you?" the man gets up and asks them, "What did you all see from the sky?" "Well... if it were just a riot, I doubt the military would quarantine the entire area," Frank said. "The moratorium on information getting out is a little... extreme in my opinion," Amberlynn said. "Yeah, and there's something else that I can't put my finger on," Evelyn said. "It doesn't sound like civil disobedience." "It's too quiet," Marilyn added. The man chuckled. "Almost as if..." he then turns to them, "everyone's already dead?" "Yeah. So why don't you just tell us already. What's going on?" Frank asks. "I think you'd better see for yourself. This, my friends... is hell."
After a while, the West family is at the security room where they see the same things happening outside in the security cameras. "What in the world?" Marilyn muttered.
When they got out of the security room, they look around to see nobody in the stores. No employees, managers, nobody. They continued to look around and see a man that looks like he barricaded the doors for a very good reason why. They walked down the stairs to him as the man tells someone, "Hey! Bring that over here!" One woman bumps to Frank and asks him and the girls, "Have you seen my baby? I can't live without my precious little sweetie doggie!" the woman continues on looking for her dog. Then Frank sees a woman and tries to walk to her and ask her what's going on until a man stops him and says to him, "Hey! This is no time to ogle pretty girls, son! You lookin' to get yourself eaten alive by zombies?" "What?!" The girls and kwamis asked in both shock and surprised to hear what the man said to their dad. "Did you just say 'zombies'?" Frank asked. "Take a look out there!" the man pointed to the glass to show a lot of zombies. "If those ain't zombies, what would you call 'em?" Frank, Marilyn, Evelyn, and Amberlynn realized that the man was right. The people at the door are zombies. Tikki notices a dog and saw the name on the dog's collar. Tikki signaled Sylveon and Vaporeon about the dog. They nodded and head out without anyone noticing. They go through the glass door, avoiding the zombies and get the dog out of there. When they got back safe and sound, the dog wags its tail happily and licks them thanking them for saving her from the zombies. "You're welcome." the kwamis said in unison. After that they let Madonna follow them to the girls while the man was still talking to them. "There's been more an' more of 'em since last night... now, they're all out there." 'I don't believe it. A zombie outbreak? Already?' Marilyn thought. "Psst. Marinette." Marilyn, Evelyn, and Amberlynn notice their kwamis and a dog with them. "We got the dog that lady was talking about out of there," Vaporeon said as he and Sylveon and Tikki quickly hides into the mini purses and jacket pocket. The girls understood where they were going at and walk to the lady. "Excuse me, ma'am. Is this the dog you were talking about?" Marilyn asks. The lady smiled with glee as she sees the dog. "Thank you, girls. Is there any way I can repay you?" "Oh, there's no need," Amberlynn said. "Girls, come on!" Frank said. The girls see their dad wanting them to follow him. "We got to go," Evelyn said. The lady nodded and let them go to their father and put the leash on Madonna so she won't lose her again.
Meanwhile, the girls run with their dad. Amberlynn asks as they stopped, "Dad, what's going on?" "The man there wants us to get more stuff to barricade the doors," Frank answered as he gets one of the things to barricade in front of them. "Makes sense to me," Evelyn said as she gets one thing too. But while they were getting them, another voice said, "You! Stop right there!" they turn their heads to see an old man, "Do you have any idea what you have done? Why did you have summoned me into this place? What are all of you planning?!" "Sir, what are you talking about?" Marilyn asks. "Yeah, would you calm down? We don't even know what you're talking about!" Frank said. The man walked away and then, they hear a crash. They turn to see one of the doors somehow opening and the zombies walked in and started eating people.
'Well, crud.' Marilyn thought.
To be continued...
