(song) third person's pov :

two years. two years since you two went separate ways and yet, you can't seem to get your mind off of him. even though he has a completely new life with a new lover by his side, you can't seem to find your way back to reality.

i mean it's understandable. you guys were together for five years.

and you both just left.

didn't even try to fix whatever broken pieces there we're in the relationship.

it felt as almost it just... wasn't worth it.

and now here you are. drinking your coffee while discretely staring at grayson and his girlfriend by his side.

memories immediately flutter into your mind and your throat tightens as salty tears swell up in your baggy eyes.

grayson chuckles at something his girlfriend says and moves his gaze to you as you are mixing around your spoon in your coffee, hitting the silver metal on the sides of the coffee mug.

his breath gets caught in his chest as he doesn't move his feet; staring and making sure that really is you.

"grayson!" his girlfriend shouts, pointing at the cash register to show that they were next in line

in your mind, you thought grayson did this on purpose.

i mean he knows this is your favorite place to calm down and to just take a breather.

then again, you knew he didn't care for you the way he did before and it was just your heart praying for a chance of those memories to be relived.

on the other hand, grayson is confused on why you didn't raise your head once you heard his name.

"does she not want to see me? did something happen? is she mad at me?"

these types of questions raised in his mind as he took a seat next to the window, a beautiful view of the sunny beach.

his eyebrows raise in surprise as he stares out the window and he grabs his coffee mug, along with his girlfriend's and runs to a different table.

"why did you move us to a different table, gray?" she asks

the beach was a place you hated and still do. grayson remembers times where he would beg to go to the beach with you since he loved it so much and you couldn't help but say 'yes' obviously.

you hate the beach because well... there's so many reasons. there are too many pros and cons.

sure, the sunset is pretty and it's nice to relax and take a break from reality but i mean... you are never comfortable.

in other words, you were insecure so i mean what was the point in going to the one place to show off your bodies.

not that that's wrong but it's just not your thing.

"i just didn't like how the sun was shining directly on us." grayson chuckles nervously, eyes still burning into you

you can sense a pair of eyes on you but you can't help to bring yourself to look up.

afraid of seeing the one person you don't want to see.

having enough, you pick up your mug and run to the bin where the dirty dishes are.

giving a sad smile to the employees who know you as a daily customer, you run off into the hot wind and race to your car.

grayson's heart was yelling at him to get up and talk to you but in his mind he knew it was wrong.

you both know you aren't right for each other but you just want one last shot. one last shot to relive those memories before they're completely over.
