Passing

Alec was a little uncomfortable. There were so many young women in the crowd and they were all staring directly at him. It wasn't his first concert but the fact that Jimin from BTS was standing right above him didn't do much to calm his nerves either. He tried making eye contact with individuals for fractional time periods, however that freaked him out even more. So the natural thing to do was avoid all eye contact at all costs.

That didn't last very long, however. Because the next thing he knew he had locked eyes with a somewhat familiar face. The girl stared back at him, but she wasn't smiling or cheering. She had a hard look in her eyes as if she was scrutinizing his every move. And then her large brown eyes closed and a faint smile began to play at her lips. Alec's voice came out stronger, and then he hit a particularly difficult note and watched her raise an eyebrow, as if indicating that she was impressed. He observed her face when she wasn't looking a couple songs later. He felt as if he could envision the mass of dark curls somewhere in the book of his lost memories.

Just as he was about to grasp the memory, it shattered from his hold and was gone, leaving him with the same nauseating feeling he had every time something became too overwhelming for him.

He didn't look at her again.

But she trained her eyes on him that entire night, proud of every syllable he sang as he basked in the lights of the stage that was finally worthy of him.

She uttered his name on her lips once more. It was foreign to hear herself whisper it. He mostly lived in her book of significant memories, but envisioning him as a breathing human being was a feeling she was new to.
