(woohoo!! Let's do this!!)
I'll start with the house in the original order (Gyf, Sly, Huff, Rav) on the Hogwarts crest in the first editions. Then I'll go onto the half houses in whatever order I want because I'm the author and I do what I want :P
My least fav of the houses because I know a few Gryffindors who are fricking dicks. The house of Godric Gryffindor (has demanded the respect of the wizarding world- I'll stop now..) who is from Godric's Hollow which harry didn't know cuz harry is dumb. Bold Gryffindor, from wild moor which is England therefor the house colour is red. Gryffindor wanted only the bold and daring in his house.
Gryffindor is the only founder known to have no descendants.
J.K. jokingly said if Gryffindor was still alive, he would be the Giant Squid. She said this sarcastically so it is not canon.
Gryffindor is known for being brave, determined, chivalric and full of nerve. The Gryffindor ghost is Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington also known as Nearly Headless Nick. He was executed in 1492 when he tried to straighten Lady Grieve's teeth but made her grow tusks.
The fandom see Gryffindor as dare-taking, yolo-ing cool mother fuckers! Gryffindor would definitely eat 12 doxy eggs for a bet then be too sick and miss quidditch tryouts. Mostly shipped with Slytherin or Hufflepuff. Most likely to have depression. Lawful evil.
Commonly referred to as the evil house. This is not correct. Yes, some evil charters are Slytherin (Lucius, Riddle, Merula) but not all are Slytherin (Gilderoy Lockhart (R), Quirinus Quirrell (R), Peter Pettigrew (G)). The house of Salazar Slytherin from fen which is east England (i think) which explains the green. Slytherin wanted the purest of blood in his school/house.
As known in movies and books, Voldemort and the Gaunts are direct descendants of Slytherin. Harry, however, is not a direct descendant, and more of a distant descendant. Voldemort came from Slytherin and the second brother Peverell brother while the Potters came from the third brother.
Slytherin is the house of the powerful [power-hungry], cunning, ambitious and determined (oh look at that! Two houses with the trait determined! JK! EXPLAIN!?) The fandom either sees Slytherin as evil or just weird, kinda suicidal and a slightly evil. JK is bias to the houses and hates Slytherin (she's also transphobic (frickin' bitch)).
