Stuck

I got on the elevator after going to grab lunch with my friends. A guy who looked a tad older than me got on after me. I pressed a button and he pressed a different one. We stood there quietly as the elevator started going up. Then it stopped. I figured someone was going to get on but nothing happened. We glanced at each other before looking to the buttons. I pressed another one hoping it would start moving. Nothing. He pressed the button to open the door. Nothing. I sighed as he pressed the help button. We were told they would send someone. We both looked over at each other.

"This is fun," He said chuckling.

     "Yep," I smiled.

"I'm Miro," He said. Woah, this is Miro Heiskanen. How didn't I notice?!

"I'm Skyler. So how old are you?" I asked.

     "I'm twenty. You?" He asked.

"Eighteen. Just graduated about a week or two ago," I smiled.

"That's cool. Do you plan on going to college?" He asked.

"Yes, I'm planning on going to Dallas Baptist University to play hockey," I smiled.

"Wow, that's awesome! I play hockey in the NHL," He smiled.

     "I figured," I giggled.

"Heh, I assumed someone living in Dallas who plays hockey would know that," He smiled.

"Yeah, how long do you think we're gonna be stuck in here?" I asked.

"Who knows. I've never been stuck in an elevator," He chuckled. I smiled and shrugged.

     "True, true," I said.

"Well, when are you going off to college?" He asked. I took a second to think.

"I'm pretty sure around August 17th," I said.

"That's cool. I was thinking about going to University of Helsinki before I was told I was attending the NHL draft," He said.

     "Really? That's cool," I smiled.

"Yeah, I haven't always been that smartest person, so I'm kinda happy that plan didn't work out," He smiled. I nodded.

"Yeah, I know what you mean about not being the smartest. I also am not too smart. I just need to go to college for a degree and maybe get out there for hockey," I shrugged.

"Yeah, just work hard and hopefully you'll make it," He said.

"I guess," I said. Suddenly the elevator started moving. We both smiled at each other. We got onto the closest floor and got off. I smiled and said goodbye to him. I went back to the apartment I live in with my parents.
