Gracie and Maddie started their morning off with a run. As they were running in Gracie's neighborhood when Gracie started to get another weird sensation. She thought it was her powers again and stop instantly. She started shaking and trembling again. So she and Maddie decided to walk the rest of the way back to Gracie's house. They both got ready for school at Gracie's house and then ate a quick breakfast and met Joe. Joe had another headache that morning to. The three friends walked to school together and went through their normal school routine until lunch.

"Hey, Joe." Gracie and Maddie said as they sat down next to him to eat their lunch.

"hey," Joe said with a mouthful of sandwich.

"Ok, yall haven't told anyone, have yall?" Gracie asked in a very low and quiet voice.

"No. But I did have another headache this morning. It was worse than yesterday's too." Joe said in a low voice as well.

"Yeah, I had another weird sensation when Maddie and I went running. I thought the water thing was coming back." Gracie said.

"Yeah, that did happen. But guys. We don't know how this is happening and we don't know how to stop it. So, what do we do now?" Maddie asked in a really concerned voice.

"Yeah what are we gonna do? How are we gonna stop it if we don't know how it's starting in the first place?" Gracie asked.

"Stop what!" a random voice said

"AHHHHH!!" Gracie, Maddie, and Joe screamed as the person approached them.

"Oh! Nothing" Maddie said very quickly.

"hey. didn't I see you in the bathroom the other day? Wasnt your name, Lucas? and didn't I tell you to LEAVE ME ALONE!" Joe said in a very stern voice in hopes that he would leave.

"Yes, yes, and yes. I'm sorry for bothering you its just that I'm new and I have no one to eat lunch with." Lucas said in a kind of disappointed tone.

"Well, you can't sit with us. Bye now." Joe said brushing him away.

"Joe!" Maddie says as she slaps him on the shoulder.

"of course you can sit with us...err...whats your name again?"  Gracie said trying to be polite and not suspicious at all.

"Its Lucas. But your friend Joseph there seems to not want me to." Lucas sat there awkwardly. He looked over and saw Joe looking at him with a very stern look on his face.

"Well, Joe doesn't have a say in this." Gracie joked as she smiled at Lucas and then turned to Joe and gave him a stern look as well.

"Oh haha. Thanks." Lucas said as he chuckled awkwardly and sat next to Maddie.

Joe let out a very ignorant sigh as Lucas sat down beside them.

"Joe can I talk to you. Over there." Gracie said infuriated that Joe was being so rude.

"Uhh I guess," Joe said as he got up.

Gracie and Joe then walked over to the side. Far enough away that Maddie and Lucas couldn't hear them. While Gracie was getting on to Joe, Maddie started up a friendly conversation with Lucas.

"So, what school did you come from?"

"Well, I actually moved here from California," Lucas said.

"Oh cool! Gracie is new too." Maddie said as she pointed over to the side where Gracie and Joe were arguing.

"Oh cool. It's been really hard to make friends though, but yall have been really nice to me for letting me sit with yall. thank you for that." Lucas gratefully said.

"Oh, no problem! Sorry about Joe though. I don't know what got into him." Maddie said in a kind of annoyed tone.

"No its all good," Lucas said, being very forgiving.

While Maddie and Lucas continued to talk about more and get to know each other, Joe and Gracie was a completely different story.

"What is wrong with you!" Gracie quietly screamed.

"uhh nothing. and since when were you, my mom?" Joe said in a sarcastic voice.

"I'm not! But you were so mean to the poor kid! Why were you so mean?" Gracie said rather annoyed that he thought being mean and rude to him was just a joke.

"Because Gracie." Joe grabbed her shoulder and pulled her to the side some more.

"When I went to the bathroom after my headache the other day, the flame came upon the palm of my hand while I was in there. He walked out of the stall as it was happening and I'm not sure if he saw something or not."

"Oh crap. This isn't good." Gracie said as she motioned for Maddie to come over there.

"Maddie! come here!"

Maddie looked over and saw Gracie and Joe motioning for her to come over there. Without Lucas.

"I'll be right back," Maddie said to Lucas as she hopped up and ran over to Joe and Gracie.

"What do yall want," Maddie said

"Lucas may have seen Joe with his powers in the bathroom. we aren't sure. But like how do we know if he did or not, because we can't just a ask him!" Gracie said really worried.

"Oh gosh, that's not good. um um um. what do we do? what do we do?" Maddie said as she started pacing back and forth.

"Maddie. stop pacing. you are drawing more attention to us. we already probably look suspicious to him as it is." Joe said as he grabbed her shoulders holding her in place.

"Ok. let's just go over to him, eat lunch with him and pretend like everything is completely normal and nothing weird is going on," Gracie said

So the three friends walked back over to the concrete steps where they were eating lunch. They all sat beside Lucas and started to get to know him. Well, Maddie and Gracie did. Joe had a weird feeling about this kid, so he was quiet most of the time during lunch. Little did Joe know he was right. The blonde-haired, blue-eyed, kid named Lucas was just like him and Gracie.
