I've always dreamed of being kissed underneath the mistletoe during Christmastime. Call me girly -cliche even- but the concept seemed so beautiful that I couldn't help but want to feel the warmness of someone's lips on mine as we shared a sweet kiss under the decoration.
Every year, I secretly hoped it would happen, but sadly, it hasn't to this day. However this year, I felt as though maybe everything would fall into place, my dream would finally come true, and I would get my perfect kiss under the mistletoe, with the person I loved the most.
Another major set back was that, that person had no idea I felt that way about them. And I wasn't planning on them finding out anytime soon.
My friends and family all knew how badly I wanted it; it was all I thought about in the leading days of Christmas. I was constantly teased by my bandmates for having such a girly dream, but I never let it get to me. They just didn't understand how appealing it sounded to me.
Sighing, I walked down into the kitchen and saw Ashton standing by the counter, scrolling through his phone. When he noticed me walking in, he glanced up and his face lit up.
"Merry Christmas Lukey!" he beamed, rushing up to give me a tight hug. Ashton was the kind of person who was cheery all the time, but when it came to Christmas, it was like he became a hundred times more hyperactive.
"Merry Christmas, Ash," I chuckled, giving him a little squeeze before pulling away.
"My mum has breakfast at her house, if you want to go wake up Mikey and Cal. We can just hang out over there until the party tonight," he said, picking up his phone again and scrolling on it, most likely on Instagram or Twitter.
"Alright, I'll get them down here."
He nodded and I took that as an indication that our conversation was over, so I quickly went upstairs. I stopped by both of their doors and knocked on them for a few seconds, yelling for them to get up.
They both stumbled out of their rooms at almost the exact same time, sleepy scowls on their faces.
"It's 9am," Michael grumbled, making me almost awh out loud at the cute yawn he let out afterwards.
So maybe Michael was that someone I had in mind that would make my mistletoe kiss even more perfect, but the chances of that happening were even smaller than getting a kiss at all.
"Yeah, but Ash's mum has breakfast ready for us, so unless you guys are planning on starving all day, I would get ready," I pointed out, then turned around to go back downstairs.
Ashton was now sitting at a bar stool, a jacket over his t-shirt and shoes on. I knew he was going to start bugging the other two to get ready, since he loved Christmas breakfast at his mums, and didn't want all of the food to be gone by the time we got there.
"Did you wake them up?"
I nodded my head and sat next to him, resting my head in the palm of my hand and staring at the floor while we waited for the other two to come downstairs.
When they finally did, the four of us headed out to the Irwin house, where we were greeted by Lauren and Harry, who were already hyped up on sugar.
"Merry Christmas!" Anne yelled to us as we made it into the kitchen, after a very giggly Harry attached himself to Ashton's leg. That kid was so cute.
"Merry Christmas, Anne," I said to her, leaning down slightly to give her a hug. She squeezed me a bit then let go, telling us to grab plates and start eating.
