"Bitch I miss you! We haven't talked on the phone in forever. You told me you would come visit but you haven't." My best fried Valerie cried into the phone. Guilt fills my veins knowing that she is right. I've been so caught up with Reid I havent made time for my closest friend.
"I'm sorry Val. I've been a terrible friend. I wasn't ready to come back yet. I'm scared it would be too hard. I have so much to tell you."
"I heard you and Aaron broke up. Good! That guy is such an asshole for cheating on you."
"Boy News travels far and fast."
"You know I know everything right?"
"Not everything..."
"Wait what? You know something I don't?" She gasped looking into the phone camera.
"You have to promise not to be mad..." I trailed off and uncertainty flooded her eyes
"I promise! Now spill."
"I've been sleeping with and started dating Reid."
"Wait..you just said too many things. Sleeping with like having sex with? Dating as in boyfriend and girlfriend? You? My very best friend in the entire world?"
"Yes me!" I laughed plopping backwards on my bed letting her process everything I just told her.
"I can't even be mad that you didn't tell me because I am so proud and shocked!"
"I miss you." I admit honestly. Valerie has been there for me through everything making us thicker than blood.
"I miss you! Darrell is going off the deep end again. I think he needs a little get away."
"Maybe I can talk to mom about renting a beach house this weekend in Malibu. I'll talk to her at breakfast and let you know. I'm going to drive out there and meet up with you for dinner tomorrow. Can you manage getting Darrell to come with?"
"It's like you have forgotten who I am! I can get anyone to do anything!"
"How could I forget? That poor boyfriend of yours is so screwed."
"Hey Alec loves me! He happens to adore my ability to get my way."
"Yeah I'm so sure. I've got to go eat breakfast then get to school. I'll talk to mom and let you know about this weekend. I'll see you tomorrow night." We said goodbye and I hung up the phone. I jumped up and made my way downstairs joining everyone else for breakfast.
"There you are!" Relief filled my moms eyes. I don't blame her for being worried the past few days every time she sees me I'm usually a mess.
"Good morning! Sorry I was talking to Val."
"Oh? How is she?" My mom went back to serving everyone making the plates like she usually does. Always making sure everyone she loves is taken care of first.
"She's good. I'm actually going to meet up with her and Darrell tomorrow night for dinner. Apparently Darrell is having a hard time. It makes my heart hurt for him mom." I feel my heart constrict inside of my chest. I hate that he is hurting and there's not much I can do to help him.
"I know sweetheart." My mom sighed before taking her seat next to Robert who was reading the paper.
"Val thinks he could use a weekend away. I suggested maybe renting a beach house in Malibu.." I trailed off not knowing how she would feel about me being three hours away for the weekend.
"No need to rent one. I have a beach house right on the coast."
"I don't know how I feel about you being that far away the whole weekend." My mom was uncertain looking torn between saying yes and no.
"I'm sure the guys could use a weekend away too."
"That's an excellent idea!" I gushed turning towards Reid and Hudson begging them to say yes or I know my mom will say no.
"Hell yeah I am down!" Hudson rubbed his hands together in excitement.
"That actually sounds like a good idea, count me in." Reid winked at me and my insides turned to mush. A weekend away with the people I care about the most is exactly what I need. I think that we could all use a weekend away honestly.
"Then I suppose I don't mind as long as the guys go with." A smile spreads across my moms face.
"Looks like we will get the house to ourselves dear." Robert wiggled his eyebrows at my mom who blushed a crimson red.
"Ew I don't want to see that shit!" Hudson stuck his tongue out gagging. Reid shivered in disgust and I cringed trying not to imagine what exactly Robert meant even though it doesn't take a genius to figure it out.
"Oh grow up like any of you are innocent here." The room grew oddly quiet and Robert smirked. Hudson looked back and forth between Reid and I.
"On that note I am going to go. I've got to get to school. I will see you all later." Reid jumped up from his chair. Hudson and I were quick to our feet dumping our dishes into the sink. We all bolted out of the kitchen causing my mom and Robert to bust into a fit of laughter.
"So who all are we inviting to the beach house?" Hudson asked following Reid and I up to our group of friends.
"My friends Valerie and Darrell from back home, the three of us, Lennox can come too and whoever else you want." I shrugged.
"I want to invite Sarah is that okay?" Hudson looked nervous. Being that he knows about Reid and I and was willing to keep quiet so I couldn't care less.
"Of course!"
"I just wanted to make sure before I asked her given her and Reid's past."
"What?" I asked slowly tilting my head to the side.
"Oh he didn't tell you? They used to sleep together." Hudson smirked arching an eyebrow at Reid.
"We slept together twice Hudson. Real nice of you to bring it up now of all times." Reid sighed no doubt preparing for me to flip out.
"Baby don't get mad about it. She meant nothing to me." Reid sighed frowning.
"Reid it's okay. I promise I am not mad. I can't hold what you did before me against you. Do I have anything to worry about with her? Like you're not harboring any feelings for her?" I asked just making sure.
"Fuck no. I have never had feelings for her! You have nothing to worry about."
"Okay. I trust you. Invite her." I turned to Hudson who watched the scene unfold with a look of shock spread across his face.
"Were you trying to stir up shit Hudson?" Reid narrowed his eyes at his brother.
"No! I was just making sure it wouldn't be a problem for us all to be together without problems. Plus side Mack knows the truth now so if you ask me it's a win win situation! Having everything out in the open!"
"I've got to go. I'll catch up with you later Kenz." Reid shook his head before storming off towards the school building.
"Is this going to be a new thing you do? Trying to get him all riled up?" I pinched the bridge of my nose looking up at Hudson.
"No buts it's kind of funny don't you think?" He smirked watching his brothers silhouette disappear in the crowded building.
"No Hudson it's not funny."
"You're right you're right. If the roles were reversed I'd be pissed off too."
"We've been on a rollercoaster with back to back loop de loops. Give him some slack, for me?" I sighed exasperatedly. I feel like I'm on a ride I just can't get off of.
"I'll find him and apologize. I'll be on my best behavior Mack. I'm sorry I'm such a pain the ass."
"You are. But I love you none the less. Let's just have a peaceful weekend okay?" I suggested and he nodded.
"We will!" He waved goodbye chasing after where Reid has stormed off too. I wasn't sure we were capable of having a peaceful weekend but God did I sure hope we could.
