He still had me thrown over his shoulder and I decided to just stop fighting him, he wasn't going to put me down. He finally set me down in front of his passenger side car door. He took a step back, crossed his arms, and gave me a cheeky smile.
"Nope." I said.
His smile dropped and he dropped his arms and sighed.
"C'mon babe, just get in the car." He huffs.
"Do not. Call me babe. And no."
He suddenly steps a foot closer, so his chest is pressed up against my chest and his face is hovering right above mine. I flinch at his quick movements. He looks down at me, and I can't read his expression. Our lips are inches apart and I can feel his warm minty breath on my face. He reaches behind me and opens the car door. He pushes the hair away from my ear and leans in "get in the car, Madison. Now." I shuddered when his deep voice spoke into my ear so quietly. He was slick to kissed me on the cheek. It was then I realized I wasn't breathing. I felt uncomfortable, but at the same time I didn't. I was wedged between his open car door and Grayson. I was trapped. I silently sunk into the seat of his SUV never breaking eye contact with Grayson. I gave the impression I did not want to be there, but yet he still smiled when I finally gave in. He slammed the door closed, and I was left alone for a couple of seconds while he jogged Im front of his car, yanking his door open and falling into his seat. He looks over at me and smiles.
"I'm really happy you're here right now," he expresses.
"Well I didn't really have a choice..." I trailed off, remembering the series of events that happened within the past minutes.
"Ya well..." He never finished his sentence as he reached around him to buckle his seatbelt.
"So...where are you taking me." I asked. I really didn't want to be there. He scared me. I felt powerless against him. If I pissed him off, I don't know what he was capable of. Recalling when he grabbed my arm when I first met him, I knew he has a more dominating side of him.
"For me to know and you to find out."
Most of the ride was silent. We had the radio on but it was at a low volume. The song "Reflections" by Misterwives was on. It's my favorite song and I could tell Grayson liked it to by the way he was tapping his fingers to the tune on the steering wheel.
"I don't want to be here." I whispered loud enough for Grayson to hear me, but then wished I didn't. He gripped the steering wheel tighter making his knuckles turn white. He sighed frustratingly.
"I don't care what you want. We're going out to dinner." He raised his voice at me.
My heart sank when he raised his voice, catching me by surprise. On instinct, i squirmed in my seat and moved further away from him, which didn't go unnoticed.
We finally pulled up to The Cheesecake Factory, and he found a parking spot right away. I got out of the car and started to walk towards the entrance, not even waiting for Grayson. I didn't want to even be next to him. I resented him. All of a sudden a hand firmly grabbed mine and he angrily whispered, "next time wait for me. Babe. Okay?"
I tensed up and didn't respond. It was the same tension you get when a teacher yells at you infront of everyone in class. Shame and embarrassment. He stopped me right in the middle of the parking lot and spun me to look at him.
"Okay?" He looked deep in my eyes. All I could see was frustration. He was grabbing me by my shoulders and shook me a little. I saw that his aggressive action was seen by another couple who was walking out of the parking lot.
"Hey miss, are you alright?" The man asked me.
"Ya shes fine. It's none of your business." Grayson bit back.
I was taken aback by his rudeness.
"Ya I'm fine. I'm sorry." I said.
Before the couple could ask anything more Grayson grabbed my hand and pulled me along. He went up to the front desk and I saw him slip the hostess a $10 bill. He lead us somewhere in a corner that wasn't crowded. Wow. Of course he would request that. We sit down, and because it was in a corner he was more to the side of me than across from me. The waiter walks over,
"Hi my name is Dylan, can I get any of you something to drink?" He asks.
"I'll take water," I respond.
"Can I have some sprite, please." Grayson asks, surprising me because I thought he had no manners whatsoever.
"Of course." He smiles and walks away.
I look over to Grayson and I catch him starring at me, but he doesn't look away.
"What." I ask defensively.
"Nothing, you're just beautiful."
I was still pissed at him from before so i didn't answer. I picked up my menu and gazed over it to avoid conversation with Grayson.
"So you're name is Madison. Do you go by mady?" He asked, attempting conversation. I completely shut him down. I don't say anything, I just continue to look at the menu, not even really reading it.
"Fine. I guess I'll just call you babe." He responds cheekily.
I shoot him daggers from the side and he smiles.
"You can't ignore me all night, babe. We're not leaving until you talk to me."
"Okay fine Grayson. Tell me about yourself." I say very curtly.
"Well I thought you'd never ask. So as you know, my name is Grayson. Grayson Dolan. I am 17 years old and I play football."
"So you're a junior?"
"Yeah. And how old are you...?"
"16." I reply
"How long have you been playing softball?"
"How do you know I play softball..." I ask slowly and slightly concerned.
"You had you're softball bag when you were in the dunkin donuts."
I didn't respond because I knew I didn't have my softball bag. I left it in the car and I remember having to grab it after I met Grayson.
"Grayson I didn't have my bag with me." He just stared at me. Was he following me everywhere? He looked aggravated that I kept challenging him. He looked like he was about to say something, but the waiter came over.
"Here's your water and here's your sprite." He sets our drinks down Infront of us.
"Are you guys ready to order?"
"Yeah." Grayson responds still a little frustrated from before.
"I'm not getting anything, but thank you." I say to the waiter and smile.
"Madison, pick something or I will for you." Grayson says sternly through gritted teeth. The waiter looked a little uncomfortable. I stared at Grayson challenging him.
"Fine. She'll have what Im having. We'll have the steak and fries. Thank you." Grayson says as he leans back in his chair, defeated.
"Okay. I can recommend some specials That are going on today?" The waiter says, as he put his hand on my shoulder. This is weird, and Grayson took notice of the flirtatious gesture. He stared at the waiter's hand on my shoulder as the waiter continued to talk.
"No we'll be fine. Thanks." Grayson says quickly, staring at the waiter with a death glare.
"Alright." The waiter says. The waiter walks away and I swear he winked at me before he turned to leave.
"Who the fuck does he think he is?" Grayson asked to no one in particular, but in shock.
"If he touches you one more fucking time I swear to God." He says slowly building up anger. I was really worried Grayson was going to make a scene. I just wanted to go home. I didn't want to be here with Grayson, or the waiter. I see the waiter walking over with our food. He sets it down In front of us, and Grayson is watching his every move.
"Can I get you more water?" The waiter asked me, smiling. He put his hand back on my shoulder. I found the waiter, Dylan, very creepy. He leaned down closer to my face, and I subconsciously moved away.
"Can you get your fucking hands off my girlfriend,"Grayson bites at the waiter.
"Or else what?" What the fuck was going on. The next thing i know, I was tearing off a raging Grayson who was throwing punches at the waiter. The whole restaurant went silent. The scene was just Grayson, who was blinded by anger, on top of dylan who was defenseless against Grayson. I mean dylan looked strong, but no match for Grayson.
"GRAYSON STOP!" I yell as I try to pry him off. I cocked my hand back and slapped Grayson across the face. He stopped and looked up at me with danger in his eyes. I thought he might even hurt me. His anger quickly washed away with confusion and concern as he saw tears streaming down my face.
"Madison I-"
"No Grayson." I take off running. I couldn't handle the embarrassment. We were in one of the nicest restaurants in New Jersey, and my date just attacked a waiter for putting his hand on my shoulder. I hate him. I burst out the doors and head for the high way. I can easily find my way home from here. It will take me about an hour, but anything to get away from him. I run out in the street, blinded by my own tears and realized i was in the middle of the fucking street. I couldn't act quick enough. I see bright headlights and the loud horn following. I braced myself for the impact. There's no way I could dodge the truck. All of a sudden my body was thrown to the side of the road. Someone jumped out and grabbed me. I landed hard on the grass and I felt like I hurt my hip really bad.
"Ow fuck!"
"Hey, what were you doing in the middle of the road! You could've gotten killed! What the fuck were you thinking!" Grayson's face was close to mine, scorning me for my actions.
"I was trying to get away from you!" His face fell, so did his anger. I can see it hurt him that it looked like I would rather be hit by a car than be with him.
"Well, are you okay?"
I was in awe. Grayson, the guy I hated minutes before, now is my hero.
I gazed up at him and spoke softly "you saved my life."
He looked taken aback, surprised by my tone of voice, probably expecting a rude sarcastic comment. He was even more surprised when I slung my arms around him, suffocating him in a hug.
"Thank you." I whisper in his ear. My hands were shaking at the fact that I could be dead right now if it wasn't for Grayson. I was breathing heavy, still in shock.
"Shhh, it's okay. I'll take you home."
He tries to help me up but pain shoots up my hip.
"Ahhh!" I yelp as I suck in air. He lets me back down to the grass gently, his face filled with concern. He puts his hand on my hip, and I hiss from the sting of pain. He easily picks me up bridal style, avoiding contact with my hip, and we start walking to his car. I had my arms wrapped around his neck, and my head was rested on his chest. He was so strong. He was carrying me with such ease and gentleness. I pick my head up and look into his eyes. His looks down into mine. The moonlight was directly in his eyes, making them glow and illuminate. His golden brown eyes held so many emotions swarming, it was hard to look away. I finally put my head back down on his chest. We got to his car and he gently put me down in my seat. He got in the drivers seat, and we pulled out of the parking lot. We sat in silence. All I could do was try and sort out my feelings towards Grayson. He was a strong, protective, jealous, dominant asshole who doesn't take no for an answer, but a cute, caring man who just saved my life. Then again, I've only known him for two days. I don't know about Grayson. At the restaurant, I could see him space out and his eyes hold onto something he can't let go. He looks miserable for a couple seconds, until he snaps out of his trance. He covers his sadness with a smile. Something happened to him and he's not fooling me. He's not the tough guy he makes himself to be. I need to know what happened to Grayson.
