Awaken

Two years later.

"You haven't talked to or even glanced at a woman since Amara." Daniel squints his eyes at me as he sips his beer.

Daniel is my new partner until Amara wakes up, has been for the past two years.

"There's no way you could go without sticking it in something."

Huffing, I roll my eyes. "Not every man lives off sex, Daniel. I will gladly wait for Amara to wake up."

"If, if she wakes up." The blonde woman on our team rolls her eyes. "She's been out for two years Noah. You haven't contacted her parents, which, dick move by the way." Jasmin continues. "Maybe it's time to move on."

"Don't do that." Nicole glares at her girlfriend. "She'd wait for you. How would you feel if you were in her situation and she found someone else?" Her big brown eyes stare at me.

"I'm not going to find someone else." I raise my voice to my teammates. "I need to be alone." Slamming my bottle down on the bar, I stand out of my seat and head out the back.

Leaning against the wall, I pull out my cigarettes, lighting one.

"I haven't seen you here before." A brunette steps under the small light outside. A flirtatious smile spread across her face.

"I don't live around here." I shrug off the fact she kinda looks like Amara, every woman to me looks like Amara now. I miss her.

"Why do you look so down? Girlfriend problems?" Slowly, she strides to me, placing a finger on my chest.

"Wouldn't you like to know." Grabbing her hand, I look her in the eye before throwing it off my chest.

"No need to get rude." She scoffs.

"Then when I seem like I don't want your attention, don't force it on me." I growl, taking a drag of my cigarette.

Taking a step back, she rolls her eyes. "Listen, I'm new to this whole meeting new people. I haven't had to for a long time."

"Look somewhere else."

"Noah, we're leaving." Daniel steps outside. His eyes dart to me and the burnette. "Or we can stay a bit longer."

Flicking my cigarette past the girl, I ignore her presence. "No let's leave, I want to see Amara."

"Are you sure?" He whispers to me. "That girl looks like she's really into you."

"Too bad, the feeling isn't mutual." I shove past him into the bar.

"You ready?" Nicole and Jasmin arch their brows.

"Yeah."

"Better luck tomorrow." Nicole rest her hand on my shoulder. "We'll find a lead tomorrow."

"We've been searching for two years, we're never going to find them and we'll never know what happened." I mumble as the ladies lead the way out.
