(1 year later)

°Amara°

"She's been stabbed, I repeat the victim has been stabbed multiple times in the chest and stomach."

Voices and people swirl around me, in a dizzy fog. Bright white lights blind the living hell out of me. Where am I? What the hell is going on?

"Hurry, we're going to lose her."

Lose who? Who are they going to lose?

"On the count of three. One, two."

After two, I feel a bunch of arms lift me from one bed to the next. Are they talking about me? Are they going to lose me?

"Where the hell is the doctor?" A nurse hollers over the ruckus of people.

"He's with someone else at the moment." Another answer frantically.

"Get him here now or she will die."

"Where is she?" His voice, I can hear his voice. "Amara."

"Sir please, you can't be in here."

"She's my girlfriend, you have to let me in." He growls with impatience. "Let me in."

"Escort him out of the room please."

Watching him leave breaks my heart, I want to tell them I want him here with me. It's like watching him leave takes away every ounce of fight of I have left. My eyes are heavy and I'm tired.

"We're losing her!" Someone yells.

"The surgeon is here."

"About time."

"Hold in there hun, you're going to make it."

Is he talking to me? Am I dying?

"Shouldn't we put her to sleep first?"

"No time."

"She could die."

"We don't have time, she could die either way. Stop arguing and do as I say."

Before I can hear anymore, I close my eyes. I'm tired, I can't fight it anymore.

"Amara!" His voice is the last thing I hear before I see a bright, blinding, glowing light. It's warm and comforting, I almost want to stay here. I could. I don't have to go back to that world, do I?

The flat sound from the mointer echos through the hallway.

"Clear!" I hear the surgeon yell before they shock her motionless body.

Her body jolts up from the intense shock treatment.

"Clear." He yells again.

This time, she responds. Her monitor begins to beep again. I instantly relax a little, she's alive, that's more than I was expecting. I don't know what happened, I don't know who did this, it was so chaotic I never got to see. I only watched her fall to the ground... I wasn't there in time to save her.

What I'm sure is hours, have gone by. The surgeon steps out of the room, and stops infront of me. A man who's never felt true fear, until now. I tug at my roots as I bury my face against my arms.

"She's alive." He informs me, his voice fully of sympathy. "Her heart was punctured. We also found a large wound on back of her head."

I clench my jaw, forcing the tears to stop from falling.

"She's going to be asleep for a while."

"How long is a while?" I swallow the lump in my throat.

"That depends on her."

I can feel his eyes on me.

"Does she have any family you could inform? Incase she's on life support for a long time, they should decide what they're going to d-."

"Shut the fuck up. I snarl at the man sitting beside me. "Don't talk about taking her life when you've only just saved it."

"It's not much of a life, Sir." He stares at me blankly. "Believe me, it's hell being stuck on something like that."

Shaking my head, I stand up from my seat, pacing back and forth. "I need to see her."

"You can, as soon as we transfer her to her new room." He doesn't get up from his seat.

"Are you going to switch her rooms?" I hurry him.

"They are, first we need to talk about her condition if or when she wakes up."

"Like what?"

"Well as I said, her heart was punctured and she had a massive gash on the back of her head. She could suffer from all sorts of heart problems and diseases, along with memory issues and PTSD. If we knew what happened, we would have a better idea."

"I don't know what happened... I wasn't around." I look to the floor, ashamed that I don't know what happened with in the few hours I didn't see her.

"There's no reason to blame yourself. If you aren't the one who attacked her, there should be no guilt."

"I'm guilty of not protecting her." I clench my fist.

"You can't save everyone." He pats my shoulder.

"It's not my job to save everyone else, just her."

"Well, she's alive."

As if that's living. I watch as the nurses transfer her sleeping body down the hall.

"They're just taking her to her new room." He eases my worrisome thoughts. "Why don't you get some sleep, the waiting room is just down the hall. We'll wake you up when you can see her."

Nodding, I follow his directions and head to the waiting room. I won't be able to sleep, instead I'll plan out how to find her wannabe killer and end their life. I'll take everything from them, everyone they love.

Laying on the couch outside her room, the second I close my eyes I see her smiling face. Finally being alone, I let the tears silently fall and hit the cushion under me. This time of night she's usually wrapped around me, sound asleep and snoring in my ear. Suddenly every fight we've had, every mission, every bad day, just goes away. All I can remember is how happy she made me. I'd give anything to have her awake and okay beside me...
