Yolanda stared at the night sky
as her husband read over some paper work.
"Love I gotta tell you things aren't how they used to be. People have seen what happened to us and take it as a warning. They're scared and they should be." He sighed.

"Scared of what? Three little bitches who can barely hit a target." She said sharply.
The sound of the moving jet began to annoy her. She stood up to pour herself another glass of whiskey. A parting gift she grabbed from her mother's collection.

"Hasn't underestimating them done enough damage. Besides aren't you the one who didn't trust her in the beginning? Where was your intuition then?" Lance said slightly scoffing.

"Oh so this is my fault?  Let me remind you that it was your son who brought her into this. He found out who she was long before we did and what did he do? LIED! Forged her records to cover her tracks." Yolanda shouted at her husband.

They began to argue loudly enough that the pilot could hear them. Lance clearly frustrated with his wife began to pace a bit. He couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"Yolanda why can't you just accept that this? All of this shit is karma! Our own Goddamn karma." Lance said pouring himself a glass.

"What he did was down right cowardice. You know what Lance I would have more respect for him had he chose her. Instead he jeopardize our entire family; ruined us nearly. I don't want him near me ever again! I had him removed out of my will two weeks ago. He may well be as dead as Irina!"
She spat as she gulped down the rest of her glass.

Before She could pour another drink.Lance struck her across her face. She hit the floor hard in shock. Her husband has never hit her until now. He lowered to where she  could just hear him say
"However you feel about James, don't you ever compare him to Irina. Our child suffered because of your own sick denial!" Lance walked back to his seat.
Silence goes by making minutes feel like hours.

"God do I regret this. Falling for a man like you! Having no choice but to be stuck here!" She screamed.

"You know Yolanda the day I met you it felt like I was meeting the angel I prayed for. The shy exchange student who spent her time learning English and avoiding people. I don't know what happened. You went from victim to villain without even noticing." He said with sympathy.

"Oh fuck you Lance. Like you're so fucking innocent. Maybe I changed the day I married you! Maybe this life YOU shove down my throat changed me. God knows I would rather be penny less in Italy." Yolanda said truthfully.

"Maybe your mother knew what was best for you." Lance said with a sinister smirk.

"Well hopefully when you see her in hell you two can give each other parental advice. That woman never cared for me. Unlike Your pathetic spineless mother; who practically spoon feed you and your brother into adulthood. The bitch who raised me was tougher than nails. You know what come to think of it.The only reason you have any of this. Any of it! Is because of me. Your mother was going to leave you nothing!" She screamed.

"So Gallos we are experiencing some turbulence as we battle a little light rain.We are going to ask that you both remain seated and fasten your belts." The pilot said. Only now had they noticed the rain pouring down. Glasses in hand they sat across from each other.

"You know what I think Yolanda? Because of the shitty relationship with your own mother. It's caused you to be such a bitch to the world.
You used to be an amazing mother." Lance said after a while. She scoffed and took another sip of her whiskey.

"And you've never been a decent husband. Never attentive always oblivious to any that wasn't your self."
She finished her drink staring him down as the plane shook. "Lance Don't you ever in your miserable life speak on my motherhood. I LOVED MY CHILDREN! I WAS THERE FOR THEM UNLIKE YOU!" Sobbing she attempted to throw her glass at him but missed.

"How about you take your head out of your own ass and see that you aren't father of the year!" She screams.

"What did you mean when you said my mother was going to leave them everything?" He asked. What she said earlier about his mother was still on his mind.

Leaning towards him slowly as the jet battle heavy turbulence. "Do you really wanna know what your little angel did to make sure this family didn't go broke? It's funny maybe the bitch who raised you was on to something. I mean here am doing to my son what I made sure she couldn't to you." Yolanda said with a smug grin.

Tears swelled in his eyes "Yolanda what did you do?" He asked but it sounded like a plea.

"Oh Lance cut the theatrics. You know you aren't Richard's son. Sure he raised you but that man knew you weren't his blood. The day of his funeral I found out not only that you aren't his biological son. I also found out that the day he died finally meant he was done taking care of his bastard son. You wouldn't have a legacy if it wasn't for me." She said.

"What did you do!?"He demanded.

"Traffic happens! Lance sometimes accidents just happen. Besides you know your brother was always a horrible driver. More importantly he didn't know shit about this business. Nor did he want to learn. He wasn't a leader he just wanted to sit in his daddy big office and play pretend."

Lance tried to find the words to say but was speechless.

"Your brother knew that she had to leave him everything. The three of them had already discussed it,as a family." Yolanda said honestly.

"You, you killed my brother and his family?"
He asked in disbelief.

"It's was our family or his I was pregnant with Irina and they were going make us homeless. Your mother knew she was wrong! That's why after Liam died. The grief for him and the guilt for you. Took her faster than her cancer."

"They were expecting TOO YOLANDA!" How how could you?" He sobbed.

"I did what I knew you wouldn't. If it were us they would have done the same thing. Yet still; All my efforts to protect my family has failed." She sobbed softly with her hands in lap.  "Irina was the only light in my dull life." She said crying harder.

Despite the erratic shaking Lance got up and sat next to his wife. "I have a lot of regrets but our children are not one of them.
Irina will never be one of them. She never questioned me even when she knew I was wrong. She was smart and kind. The best part of knowing you was creating her. This isn't our karma losing her is." Yolanda whispered just loud enough for him to hear.

Suddenly the weather began to worsen. The pilot spoke but the speakers began to go in and out with static. Lance reached for Yolanda's hands as they held tightly.

"If I could to take it all back I would. Yolanda I would be a better man to our family to you. "
Lance voice cracks as winds whip harshly on their jet.

"Do remember what your mother said the first time I met her?" She asked.

"She said that loving you would be the death of me and all that I could be." He said bitterly.

"You laugh at the time said that she was just trying to scare you. I knew from the moment the words left her lips. She was right and I like you had fallen for a fool."

The jet began jerking as the lights began to flicker. "Yolanda, my sweet sweet angel I am so sorry. I- I will never stop loving you." Lance said through his uncontrollable tears. They both knew what was happening as they felt gravity began to slip away.

Yolanda looked out at the pouring rain for the last time. She laughs a little. "I'm not sure what hurts more. Finally realizing that I'll never love you or admitting that I have nothing else to live for." Her last tear slipped from her eye. As She turned to Lance and whispered "I finally get to see her again. My light has come back for me."
