I wait around in the alley for way too long. John went in ten minutes after Keegan for backup.
Unlike John, I was too noticeable and stayed back.
Sirens blare at the police station and I duck into the alley.
I hold my breath as I peer around the corner. Rage consumes me and I grab a bag of trash in the alley and hurl it at the wall.
He got caught.
Stupid Keegan got caught.
I slam my fist into the dirty wall and bellow in frustration. Where was John? He was supposed to have Keegan covered.
“May,” a hand falls on my shoulder.
I whirl around and instinctively throw a punch at the man.
I was not in the mood to be hit on by some alley rat. My eyes widen as John falls to his knees.
“John, how in the world did you get out?” I bend down and grab his shoulder. “Did you get the files?” I ask.
“No, Keegan had them,” he grunts and rubs his tummy.
I growl and clench my fists. My heart rate spikes and adrenaline rushes through my system.
“He got caught,” I spat.
“He didn’t have them when he got caught,” John leans against the wall.
I release my fists and my eyes widen. Did the plan really work?
“Then we will just get the files once the place is clear,” I say breathlessly and a smile tugs at my lips.“I already checked, it isn’t there,” John sighs.
“What?” I stare at him. My eyes narrow as he doesn’t reply. “Where would they be then, John?” I snarl.
“I don’t know,” he matches my stare. John may be nicer than me, but his temper was just as bad as mine.
“How do you not know, John?” I cock my head.
“He must have dropped them somewhere else,” he shakes his head.
“Are you kidding me?” I shout. “Are you serious right now?” I scoff. “Now we have to break that stupid little cu-“
“May,” John slumps against the wall.
“What?” my yell echoes down the street.
“There is barely anyone there, we could totally do this,” he consoles.
“He is so in for it, once I get my hands on him,” I pace the alley. “Did you check the entire alley?” I ask.
“Yes, I checked his entire path. From the warehouse to where he was arrested; and the files just disappeared,” John explains.
“Things don’t just disappear, John!” I cry. Obviously this wasn’t John’s fault, because when John checks something, he does a thorough examination; but he was my only target at the moment, and rationality is not my finest quality.
“We will get him,” I growl, “and then we will get those files. We will kill him; and we will find this son of a b*tch whose messing with us, and kill him too.”
I immediately leave to go control my anger.
--
My teeth were clenched as I stalked back into my place.
“Get the map John,” I command him and grab the pens.
We set up on the kitchen bar, and prepare our plans.
