Amelia POV

It was time for me to leave the house. I didn't bother taking my clothes. James said he didn't need them. Those clothes, he said, were too out of fashion. I didn't know he had fashion sense, but he clearly told my parents he needed none of my things in his house. I didn't even get to!e to say goodbye to my parents because he held my hand very tightly and bragged me out before I could speak.

The moment I stepped out of the house, I saw a limo and about two other cars parked on the road side.

"Get into that one", he pointed to the white limo. I marched towards it and upon reaching, opened the door and sat in it. Shortly after his family members joined. I didn't take time to look at them. I looked down and at my long nails which wear polished in an amber kind of colour.

The devil himself joined and sat next to me. The !moment he sat, he took his phone and started typing. My phone, I thought. I think I forgot it. It was in my mother's room. I left it there when my dad came in.

" Can I get my phone, James?" I asked. He looked at me and gave me a look that said no." James, please. I have important numbers on them. I took a job and I have to call for their website and sign in so I can work online." I said and that caught the attention of everybody in the limo. A woman with short hair and a chubby face just like my mother's stared at me with disgust. Her resemblance with James didn't go unnoticed and she had tons of makeup on her face, which made her look less prettier than she was. She was, I think James' mother.

"This girl is going to be a problem. You just got married to her and she is already commanding you to do things." She was also going to be a problem. I wasn't going to let her comment pass. She needed to know who I was and be careful with me.

"Listen, mother-in-law, I didn't command him to do anything. I  was asking him for permission. I just met you and I don't like you already. And that look on your face, you better remove it because you don't know who I am. And you better stop-" Before I could finish, the annoying James cut in.

"Shut the fuck up. Do you always have to be bitchy to everyone you meet. If you dare ever speak to her again, you will-" I cut him off before he could continue.

"You will what! What can you do? You coward. I have heard that from numerous of people. Less talking and more action. You are just such a jerk. I only asked for my phone nothing else. It's not as if I was asking to get it for me. You should no me by now and to you" I pointed to her family with my other hand. They were all girls and a small boy. He was such a cutie. "I was only making my presence known. I mean, since your bout hear didn't bother introducing his wife to you guys. There are going or be some changes in your house now." I said. They were going to get the worst not the best of me. They all looked at me with equally disgusted faces, but it did no harm to my ego.

"Stop pointing your ugly finger at them and speak to me. What did you say you need the phone for anyway. We can't wait any longer I have some work to do. If it is important, you can go get it." He said and I was surprised he was bring nice. I didn't hesitate to tell him.

"I am a working woman now. I got an internship at Smith's publication but I requested for them to have me work at home so I have their number on that phone." I said and looked at him. His lips rose to a smirk. He started laughing all of a sudden and his mother followed suit. Why were they laughing? Did it seem like I joked?

"Who said you are going to work. All you have to do is stay at home and do your chores. I can't afford for my reputation to be ruined. If you want to join the country club, you can, but you can surely not work at all. Even if the company is the largest of its kind in Ghana." He said and turned to his phone. What was he saying? That I couldn't work? How? Why?
