Aurora Wilson is going to a new school as they moved into their new neighbourhood just weeks ago. This high school is one of the best schools in the country. It also has a university where students can go for higher education. She wanted to become a clinical pharmacist and King's University was the best among all for all pharmacy-related courses. That's the reason she transferred here.Things were not in her favour as she wished. Her best friend, Kate, who was supposed to start school with her the next day, was held up in the States. She met with a minor accident a week ago and had her ligament torn which explains why she wasn't here with Aurora.
Kate was an American and came to London for education. She was born to British-American parents and her mother wanted Kate to pursue education in her homeland. Kate stayed with her maternal grandmother until last Summer when she sadly passed away and since then, she's been staying with Aurora. The doctor advised her not to travel for some time till the wound healed. Though it made sense, it disheartened Aurora.
It's the first day of school. Aurora's mum woke her up as she reluctantly got up and went to the bathroom to start her day. She took a quick cold shower which freshened her up.
"Cold showers, hands down, are always the best." That is what she always says.
She wore a Louis Vuitton Bordeaux off-shoulder woollen dress and pencil-fit black jeans followed by her Gucci belt around her slim waist. She dressed her hair in a simple hairstyle, letting loose her long silky black hair to sway it's own way, elegantly. She looked amazingly pretty in her simple outfit and her ultimate silky hair just added more elegance to this already gorgeous girl.
She was dropped off by her mum. She entered the new building unaware of what this place was holding for her in the future. The enormous building screamed power and wealth. She sauntered her way in. She asked a few people and made her way to her classroom. The school was enormous which explains her difficulty in finding her classroom.
Aurora was waiting for the teacher to come. She had an uninterested face. Most of the guys and girls were chatting, some writing, some gossiping and some sleeping. Approximately, after 10 minutes, Mr.Smith entered the room. The chatter of students died as soon as he entered.
"Good Morning students," he said, as he put down the books on the teacher's desk.
"Good Morning, Mr.Smith." The students greeted him back.
"This is the last year of high school. So you all better make the best use of it. All the best everyone, and Ms. Perkins, would you kindly stop talking or do you wish to go out for a walk?" asked Mr. Smith, sarcasm dripping from his words.
She muttered a small apology and he started with the class. His eyes finally landed on Aurora. "Well, we have a new student here. Come on miss, introduce yourself," he says as he gestured to her to come to the front.
"I'm Aurora Wilson. A transfer student from Peter's School of London. I hope we can get along well." She kept it short. Her voice was bold and it screamed confidence.
She heard many gasps when she mentioned her previous school's name which didn't surprise her at all because she very well knew about the early controversies between both the schools. Competitors in academics as well as sports. Both the schools are equally privileged but is there a world without competition? Absolutely not.
"Alright, Ms.Wilson. Get back to your seat."
Her day went by so fast. Aurora went out during a break to take a look at her new school and before she knew it, she was lost in the ancient monstrous building. After quite a struggle, she found the way and it was only 10 minutes before her noon classes would start and she didn't want to be late on her first day. She walked as fast as she could and was happy to see the lift and ran towards it.
Just a few steps ahead, a guy, tall and fit, walked into the lift and when he saw her rushing in, he pressed the door close button abruptly. Aurora was shocked and mad but came rushing in on time, seeing this his eyes rolled back in annoyance. She clicked on the 5th floor and he clicked on the third floor.
"Why is he such a jerk?" She wondered, looking at him for a brief moment. The guy was standing tall and big next to her with his hands stuffed into his pockets. She was contemplating whether to ask him or not and then decided to ask.
"Why would you do that?" She asked, looking at him hoping for an answer.
A long sigh escaped his lips, his eyes on the lift door as it opened, he slowly averted his steady gaze to his right on her and said, "Wasn't it obvious? I didn't want you to get in," and walked out.
"What a jerk!" She said in disbelief as she saw the door shut.
She went back to her class on time and couldn't stop thinking about the jerk she previously met. His irrelevant discourtesy was what irked her. The teacher wasn't there and she wondered why she even rushed to get there.
She was reading the book, 'The Atomic Habits By James Clear' when she saw a girl, a bit taller than her, sit down beside her.
"Hi, I'm Audrey. I've never seen you here. Are you new?" She questioned, her voice soft and subtle.
"I'm Aurora Wilson. Yes, I'm a transfer student."
"Ah, it is a pleasure meeting you." She said smiling at her to which Aurora just smiled.
The bell went off and students rushed their way out. Aurora took her time packing her stuff and there was almost no one in class except for a guy who was not sparing his precious attention to anything but his laptop. After packing her bags, she stood up to leave and was stopped by a few girls.
"Hey, newbie. Leaving already?" Asked Evelyn. She had a sickly smile and the annoying noise of her chewing gum was already getting on Aurora's nerves.
"Yes." she clipped, taking her step forward only to be stopped by the other girl. Aurora's eyes averted to the girl who stopped her for a brief second and then her attention shifted back to Evelyn.
"Come on, let's have a chat," dragged Evelyn.
"No, thanks. I need to go."
"Why are you rushing? What are you? Cinderella?"
"What do you want?" Asked Aurora, exasperated.
"Let me introduce myself. I'm Evelyn. Leader of the most popular group here. Why? Because we are all good-looking and guys are always behind us. You look decent enough, so congratulations, you are in. And also don't be shy, show some skin, guys love it." she said with a wink, which made Aurora nauseous.
"Show some skin?" She questioned, a low chuckle escaping her lips, she almost laughed at their absurdity. And continued, "I'm sorry, I missed the part where I said I was interested in being your dirty little group?" Taking a step closer, her arms crossed over her chest, her steady gaze on Evelyn.
"You think you have a choice? Stop it sweet thing," hissed Evelyn.
"Oh, I'm starting to want you to make me," dared Aurora, her tone steady and stern.
"You think you can survive us? You won't stand a minute against us," said Evelyn, making Aurora chuckle.
"Well, you are right, I really can't stand you so I'm leaving." And sauntered her way out leaving behind a fuming Evelyn. The drama didn't go unnoticed by the brunette guy whose lips lifted into a tiny smirk. He was intrigued into knowing who this rebellious girl was and already knew that his final year in high school wouldn't be a boring one thanks to someone.
He got up and took his laptop in one hand and the other stuffed in his pocket. He walked over to the exit of the classroom and stopped for a brief moment, turning his attention to the girls.
When he did not talk, "Ryan?" Called out Evelyn, wondering what he had to say."You guys are still doing this? Grow up." And walked out making the girls groan in annoyance. Evelyn was fuming in anger and embarrassment thinking about her encounter with Aurora.
