"Mornin' [Y/N]."

"Good morning Hank, are all these fish fresh from the harbour?"

"You betcha', me and Pa' caught them this morning. You get first pick and I'll even give ya' a little discount seeing as you're my favourite customer." He winked and [Y/N] giggled, looking over the various colourful fish, still glistening among the bed of salt crystals they lay upon.

He was a tall man, rather imposing with wide set shoulders, a head of dark black hair and scruff decorating his jaw line. He had quiet a fancy towards [Y/N] and the young girl knew it, batting her eyelashes shyly or caressing his arm with a delicate hand to make him flush whenever she could. The [H/C] haired girl pondered for a moment, resting a dainty gloved hand on her chin before gesturing to a batch of good sized silver fish.

"I'll take three Cod and one Haddock, ooo and some slices of salmon if you have some on hand, Grandma' [L/N] needs them for her special pie."

He chuckled and bagged her items, placing them in her small wooden basket already filled with potatoes, eggs, carrots and various other vegetables that she had accumulated while browsing the early morning market.

"That'll be twelve pound fifty, please." She dug into her small lace purse and handed him a note accompanied by a small flurry of coins, putting it back in her basket and beaming at the much taller man.

"Stop by the bakery today Hank, father's making his famous cherry pies and if you're lucky I'll save you a few~" She turned away but he grabbed her shoulder gently, the tips of his ears red with embarrassment.

"Wait [Y/N]—before you go—-."

"Yes?" She batted her eyelashes and looked at him with her pouty pink lips.

"I—err—it's nothin', have a nice day."

"You too Hank."

She walked away, her pink petticoats swishing and her basket in hand and greeted the various people she encountered in her small fishing village. She got a lot of Male attention, it wasn't always something she particularly enjoyed but on a day like today it felt nice to be complimented and given pretty things for free. When she reached the top of the harbour hill she turned onto the high street, entering the first shop which read 'The good loaf' —her families local bakery.

"Father? I got everything we need for the weeks shop. Where are you?"

"I'm in the back [Y/N], I'll be out in a second." He dusted the flour from his hands and smiled at his daughter, his eyes crinkling as she set down her shopping basket and got her cute frilly apron from the peg behind the bakery showcase.

"Salmon?"

"I thought Grandma could make her special pie, don't worry I got you the strawberries you like as well." He nodded and grabbed the basket from [Y/N], putting it out of the way and opening the window to let some of the sea breeze inside. He was a kind man, he had pretty auburn hair, twinkling brown eyes and a heartwarming smile. [Y/N]'s mother had passed away two years prior due to a terminal sickness so he ran the bakery alone with [Y/N].

He turned to her and sighed, grabbing his coat as he spoke. "Listen, I'm going to have to go to the windmill and pick up a shipment of flour so I need you to mind the shop for the rest of the day, okay? You don't have to bake anything, just sell the produce to the customers, I'll be back by six o'clock latest."

"Okay pap's, is Grandma still sleeping upstairs?"

"Yeah, try not to disturb her she's got a terribly soar throat and needs to rest. I'll see you later, alright?"
