Chapter 10

,,So what are we going to watch?" I asked curiously.

,,The children wanted to watch Finding Nemo, is that okay for you two?"

,,Oh yeah totally." I assured her.

Daniel nodded. ,,Yeah sure."

She smiled and turned the TV on. Silence spread throughout the room and everyone watched the movie attentively. After a while my gaze fell on the bowl of Nachos, which was still standing untouched on the table. I didn't want to be the first one to eat, but they looked SO good. Carefully I reached into the bowl and took some Nachos, trying my best to not make any noise, still they made a loud crunch sound as I took the first bite. Well damn.

Daniel glanced over to me and despite the darkness, I could see a grin on his lips. What was he grinning about now? I looked at him questioningly, but after a few seconds he just turned his gaze back on the TV, also reaching for some Nachos. I continued watching the movie but soon I realized how tired I was, it had been a long day after all. The darkness didn't really help keeping me awake, but I somehow managed not to fall asleep till the end of the film. The credits were now rolling, and apart from the background music there could be heard soft snores.

,,Looks like someone fell asleep." Rosa whispered and walked over to her grandson, who was peacefully leaning against Daniel's shoulder and sleeping.

The older boy didn't seem to be uncomfortable with it at all, on the opposite, he didn't even really notice until Rosa pointed it out. It didn't seem to have bothered him. ,,Oh.." He looked down at the seven-year-old. ,,Do you want me to carry him to his bed? So you don't have to wake him up.."

I could tell he wasn't used to children being around, but the way he handled it was really sweet.

Rosa smiled. ,,It's okay cariño, I can carry him. I may look old but I still have strength."

And with that she took Diego into her arms and started to head towards his and his sisters bedroom. ,,Marta it's bedtime, vamos." She told her on the way. The little girl just nodded and waited for her grandmother to disappear behind the door, then she faced Daniel and me and simply smiled.

,,Goodnight (y/n)." She looked at the boy still sitting next to me. ,,Buenas noches Daniel y.." Confused she stared at the small puppy who was sleeping on the floor next to Daniel's feet. ,,What's its name?"

,,Chestnut." He said smiling softly.

The girl giggled. ,,That is a funny name. Buenas noches Chestnut." She finally said to the pup, before also going into her room.

So now it was just Daniel and me, sitting in a dark room, the only source of light being the Television. I was attempting to read the credits that were still rolling, which wasn't easy. Why do they roll so fast? No wonder no one ever bothers to read them. After feeling Daniel's gaze on me for a while, I turned my head into his direction.

,,They're interesting?" He asked as I faced him.

,,What?"

,,The credits."

I chuckled. ,,I've seen more interesting things."

,,Oh yeah? Like what?"

,,Like.. pretty much everything else that's not movie credits."

,,Makes sense, I once tried to read them as a kid, got a headache from reading too fast. Since then I never read 'em again."

I couldn't help but laugh at this. ,,Sounds like you were an adorable kid."

,,Nah, I was more of a huge brat."

,,Well, kids can be both, brats and adorable."

,,Yeah I guess that's kinda true."

Rosa came back. ,,Ah finally they fell asleep, sorry for having you waiting. I know you must get up early tomorrow for work." The woman apologized.

I shook my head. ,,Oh don't worry, it's okay." I stood up. ,,But uh.. yeah it's pretty late."

She nodded. ,,Yes I understand, thank you for coming today. And for introducing your new friend to us of course."

I slightly blushed at her words, after all Daniel and I have only known each other for a day. ,,Haha yeah, no problem.."

We all walked towards the door, then said our goodbyes and hugged. Rosa even hugged Daniel, which seemed to be kind of awkward for him, since he was carrying sleeping Chestnut and couldn't hug her back. After my neighbour went back inside and closed the door, I grinned at the blond boy.

,,What is it?" He asked.

,,Oh it's just fun to watch people getting uncomfortable because of hugging strangers."

,,Pff.. Just wait till you meet my friends, I bet you'll be uncomfy too."

,,Yeah, guess that's a side effect of being socially awkward." I replied, but then realized what exactly he had said. ,,Wait-" Meet his friends? ,,So you're saying we'll meet again?"

,,I mean.. yeah, if you want to. Today was fun."

,,Haha really? I kinda thought the kids might have scared you off a little.."

,,Nah, they're cute."

,,I bet they'll be excited to hear that."

He smiled, and so did I, but after a moment of quietness I decided to break the silence.

,,Um.. Today really was cool, but I should head inside.. y'know gotta get to work early and stuff.."

,,Yeah.. See you around then."

,,Good bye.." I smiled and turned around walking towards my flat, but when I was already taking out my keys to open the door, I heard Daniel's voice again.

,,Uh wait!"

I turned around. ,,Yes?"

,,Before you go.. Let's exchange numbers."

,,Oh.. yeah sure." I answered grinning slightly while grabbing a pen and a piece of paper, that were still in my bag. Quickly I wrote my number down and a smiley next to it. ,,Here, just text me later so I have yours too." I handed him the note.

He smiled. ,,Will do."

,,Great, talk to you later then. Oh and.. be safe on your way back home."

,,Haha don't worry, I'll be fine."

,,Alright."

We smiled at each other one last time and then went our ways. Who could've known this morning that today's the day I'd actually make a possible new friend? Content I entered my apartment. Maybe after all, things are actually starting to change for the better.
